Soft Target Children have always remained the soft target of the criminals. They fall an easy prey to the criminals and get exploited sexually and economically. They easily become the victims of sexual and economic exploitation, corporal punishment at school and other places, domestic violence, and trafficking for prostitution. But there is, “child abuse and the child pornography that are the worst forms of child abuse” that the children are exposed to. Nithari Serial Killings The Nithari serial killings of the innocent children who were sexually abused and brutally murdered triggered a much-needed debate on protecting the children from all kinds of physical abuse. Nithari findings made this small town a center of focus for the media of the world. People were shocked to see the brutality the children were subjected to. Every one, from the first citizen to the rag picker, was upset over the brutality, child abuse and the police inaction. The victims were the children of the poor villagers and even some were of the usually neglected section of the community such as Dalits. Inactive police added more to the woes of the hapless villagers. People have not yet forgotten the Nithari that a similar incident happened in Jaipur where a 6 year girl was brutally molested by an unknown person. Laws Nithari episode forced the Ministry of Women and Child Development to work on a Child Protection bill to address the sexual and economic exploitation of children. There are many countries where such cases have surfaced and laws have been made that crack down upon the accused. There are many registered nongovernmental, non-profit organizations that are working for against child abuse and for the betterment of the children. But efforts on the part of government and some organizations can not stop the occurrence of such incidents. Laws should be made of such type that they are used effectively and an immediate action can be taken against the culprits. Merely by making the laws the problem can not be handled. It is the effective implementation on behalf of the respected authorities that the crime can be curbed. Citizens should be made aware of the law so that inactive police can be forced to do some action.

BJP in Karnatka
June 2nd, 2008
krishna Single Largest Party In the recently held elections for the Karnatka Assembly, BJP emerged as the single largest party in the state. It won 110 seats out of the total of 224.This is first time ever that BJP is going to form a government on its own in a southern state of India. Government formation On Monday, in a meeting of the BJP Legislature Party B S Yedduyurappa was, unanimously, elected their leader. Later on Mr. Yeddyurappa met the Governor and staked claim to form the government. To stake claim for the formation of government BJP needed the support of at least three MLAs. It managed to get the support of some independents after several rounds of consultations with them. All the independents are those who had rebelled against their parties and have won the elections as independents. All the independent MLAs were presented before the Governor along with letters of support by the BJP leaders. This election verdict has clearly presented the reflection of the mood of the people of the state. Karnatka has seen three successive coalition governments over a period of 40 months after the fractured mandate of 2004 elections. It was stability that people wanted in the state. Election Issues This election was fought on the basis of the issues like terrorism, rising prices etc. BJP managed to get the support of every section of the society whether it were dalits or some other casts. This is the clear signal of the changing mindset of the people that religion and cast were the issues of past it is stability and development that is the real issue. This election mandate has sent a red signal to the Congress as there is not enough time left for the elections for the center government. BJP leaders are stating it as the clear sign of the changing tides. True Victory Whatever the outcome is, it is very clear that Indian democracy is going through new phases. There were the times when only one political party ruled the country. There was not any other political party that could dare to challenge it and thus the term ‘democracy’ was in itself meaningless. Now people have options to choose whatever suites them. Governments that do not present the wanted results get thrown out of power. Those parties that work for the betterment of the public come to power again in turn. This is [...]
