Punjab defended its championship by defeating the favorites Services by a solitary goal and thus lifted the 62nd Santosh Trophy national football championship title at the Bakshi stadium in Srinagar on Sunday. Services were the favorites as they had defeated the Punjab in the quarter final stages of the tournament. But Punjab took the revenge displaying an all-round performance in the match. Both of the teams were almost equals to each other but it was Punjab players who performed better than their adversaries when the situation was demanding. Punjab proved to be the better side on display and their striking trio of Amandeep Singh, Balraj and Balwant Singh kept on attacking in a well mannered and planned way posing serious threats to the Services goal. They got many chances to increase the winning goal margin but could not convert them in reality and it was also the Services skipper and custodian who did not allow them to increase the winning margin and thus keeping his team in the hunt till the end. Services had qualified for the Santosh Trophy final after the gap of 39 years and were favorite side to win the final. They also paid the price for highly relying on their star striker who was rendered ineffective by the Punjab defenders as they did not gave him little opportunity to break free. Though he could not watch the trophy as he would have preferred was gifted away to his adversaries but he was awarded Player of the Tournament. It was only in the ninth minute of the match he could attack the Punjab goal that was collected by Punjab keeper Karanjit Singh. Though the Serviced players attacked the Punjab goal many times it was Karanjit Singh who thwarted all their attempts to neutralize the score. Though Punjab dominated the match most of the time but they could not increase the winning margin and even missed some golden chances. Punjab though kept the opposite side pressure, pouring forward it was only in the 54th minute of the match that the combined attack by Balraj and Satkar Singh brought the opposition keeper Robikanta Singh out of his box and this moment turned out to be the beginning of the ending of the Services’ dream. And this single shot was enough to declare Punjab the winner of the Santosh Trophy.

krishna Changing Situations Changing political situations in India’s neighborhood are creating a serious threats to the security of It. Pakistan has remained under the rule of a military dictator for more than seven years and now has an elected government. During this period of seven years whole of the world has changed a lot .Same has happened with Pakistan. Inside Pakistan After 9/11, Pakistan was considered to be the main ally of US of its war against terrorism and was provided with huge funds. After the downfall of Taliban regime the remaining militants fled from Afghanistan and took shelter in the bordering area of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Many of them had entered Pakistan from where they kept on guiding the activities of their militant outfit throughout whole of the world. Taliban militants hiding inside the Pakistani area near the border carry out attacks on the Afghanistan coalition forces and rush back to their hideouts thus tormenting the coalition forces. Support There is a huge support for Taliban in Pakistani public and government agencies. As Pakistan is in possessing nuclear weapons and politically unstable state it has become a major threat to the US and the other countries that are always at the target of Al-Qaeda. Presence of Taliban supporters inside the Pakistan Military and other Government establishments, rise of fundamentalists in Pakistan in recent times are the matters of grave concern. Political situations inside Pakistan indicate that it is heading towards a civil war. If such happens, the threat of the nuclear weapons falling into the hands of militants can become a reality. Threats Though at present the nuclear technology is considered secure but there is not any guarantee remaining same if we consider the political turmoil going inside Pakistan. Pakistan and its bordering areas have become a safe heaven for the militants from where they are guiding their destructive activities throughout whole of the world. These militants trained in Pakistan, also carryout their activities inside India. Any change inside Pakistan directly affects India. If Pakistan heads towards a civil war or becomes a failed state then whole of world will have to face the consequences. There are very few options left to tackle the situation if not handled can become a global threat.

Needs There are huge demands of energy in India and it is unable to meet them. It is a rapidly growing economy and its demands of energy are increasing day by day. It fulfills its energy needs by importing from the other countries. To sustain the current economic growth rate it needs to be self dependent in the field of energy. The deal will open up new possibilities of cooperation not only with the US but with other nuclear powers also not only in the fields of nuclear technology but many others. By entering into the deal India had sought new dimensions to its relationship with US. Views According to the left parties the Indo-US nuclear would make India a US outpost against China. This view of the left parties has been opposed by most of the Indians. It seems that they are more concerned about protecting China’s interests than India’s own national and strategic interests. It seems as if they are not worried about the rising energy needs India but are acting as if they are a political party of China. America is having strong economic ties with China as well as with India. There is not any reason that will harm China’s interests. It is necessity of the time that India’s rising energy needs should be met at early as possible. Developments The time is running out as Bush’s presidential tenure will end very soon.
