River Bank During Summer

Main Source Rivers are the life line of every civilization. Most of the ancient civilizations grew along the river banks .Whether it is Europe or Asia most of the cities even today are situated along the rivers banks. Water is one of the main necessities of every human being and the rivers were the main natural sources of water so most of the civilizations grew on the banks of the rivers and expanded. Rivers has always fascinated the man and even now whenever people have time they get drawn towards the rivers.   River Bank Indian people of every age are drawn to rivers for their various reasons Children and the young people learn swimming play water games some times do fishing etc. Elders have their own reasons, as for those rivers are a sign of spirituality. They perform religious rituals except bathing and swimming. During the months of May and June when summer is at its peak the river banks present the scene as if a village fare is being held. For the local people river banks are like beaches where they, after swimming and bathing in the cold water of the river lay in the hot sand to warm them up and when the heat becomes unbearable they again jump into the water. Summer Season In the older times, during the summer season people used to spend most of their time on the banks of the rivers. As water resources were very limited ladies used to go to bath and wash clothes at the rivers. As education facilities were very limited, river banks used to be the favorite ‘time pass’ spot for the children. Farmers who tilled their land from the dawn used to come to the river bank to rest and take bath. Except it, rivers were the main irrigation source for the farmers. As most of the rivers have been tamed by creating dams for the purposes of energy and the minimizing the dangers of floods only during the summer season they can be seen in their full flow. During the summer season demand for electricity increases and the dams also get filled to their maximum capacity because of increase in water inflow cause by ice melting in the Himalayan region. So the surplus water is released and the rivers flow fully filled with water as they used to be in the earlier times.   Children [...]

Law and Child Labor

Child Laborers Children can be seen on the roads, streets, Dhabas working as laborers in every city or small town of India. Child labor is a menace as it harms the normal mental and physical growth of the children and also grab the much needed time for them for playing and learning which is very necessary for the their development. This menace also paves the way for the exploitation of the children by their employers. Child laborers are abused, ill treated and are even up by the employers. This is not only done by the employers but also by the people with whom they come into contact. Major Problem Indian government has made laws to tackle the problem. Engaging children under the age of 14 years is a serious offense according to the law. But the situation is so grim that people consider that the law does not, in it self a solution to the problem. There are many social and economic problems that force the children to work in the objectionable conditions. Children are forced to work, some times, even by their parents. Some children work as a hobby or to help their parents at work.  Sometimes some children, at their own will, work as part time to earn some extra money. In these cases they, their parents or their employers can not be considered guilty of committing an offense. These are some simple circumstances that can be ignored But what can be done when a children is an orphan, having no food, clothes and home. If such child is prohibited from working then rules that prohibit him from doing so, in itself are against their existence and can starve them, then who will be held guilty for it.    Laws It is necessary for every country to provide its citizens appropriate opportunities to grow and develop mentally and physically. If there are children, having no parents then it is the duty of the government and the society to establish for them necessary infrastructure that is necessary for their development and will guide and educate them to become good citizens of the country .Merely by making laws the problem of child labor can not be solved. It needs a unified movement to be initiated, in which social welfare groups and organizations and government should be involved, and that should be a long term movement. Preference should be given to [...]

Changing J&K

Militancy Jammu and Kashmir, the northern state of India has always remained the cause of concern at the International level because of terrorist activities sponsored by from across the Border. Thousands of people including Indian security personals and Militants have been killed during the militancy and situation is very grim even now. Kashmiri militants get arms training in the Pakistan occupied Kashmir and then carry out militant activities inside the Indian side. All the militant activities are directly guided from across the border on the orders of the non-Indians who mislead the simple and uneducated local people to carry out destructive activities.   Peace Process Pakistan has many times attacked the Indian state J&K some of the attempts led both of the countries to wars. Compromises were done between both of the countries but successive Pakistani governments and the dictators never followed them. One of the peace initiative done by A V Vajpayee led government ended into Kargil war. Another peace process is now going on and both of the countries have shed of some of their differences and vowed to carry on the peace process in every kind of circumstances. Both the countries have understood that without helping each other they can not prosper and become developed states. Change With the peace process, a change has also happened in the valley. Infiltration attempts, incidents of violence and killings of innocent civilians and security personal have declined. Under the leadership of the elected government state has improved a lot and massive development activities are going on in the state. The state government has almost completed its tenure of five years and elections for the state assembly will be scheduled in the near future. People have lost a lot during the militancy that never can be regained. People suffered a lot and are turning towards the trade and development activities. Except some instance of violence overall situation is peaceful.   Elections Coming Assembly elections in the valley are being expected to be one of the most free and fare election. Militancy has declined and the attitude of the people has changed. In the changed situation the people will be freer to cast their votes freely as there will be no such forces who will force them to stay inside their homes or to cast their votes in favor of some one special.
