Education Status in India

Saturday, 21st June, 2008

History India is famous for is well structured education system that prevailed in the country from the remote past. India used to be the education center in the ancient times and students used to come to India to learn. Nalanda was famous for its educational infrastructure in the ancient times. Rulers of the medieval age and later on, the colonial rulers encouraged the spread of education with policies, programs and commissions. After independence India built up a very large system of education following the planning and recommendations of the various national commissions set up by the Indian government.

British Rule During the colonial rule of British, though the education system improved a lot but the literacy rate was very low. In the ancient times Brahmans, the highest class holds the authority to gain knowledge. British wanted the natives to be educated enough to be able to help them in administrating the Indians. So they introduced the new education system in India.

Present System After independence Indian followed the same pattern. Government spent a lot to establish and expand educational institutions throughout the country. But the government system could not produce the desired results. Condition of the public educational system deteriorated during the decade of nineties. There are many reasons behind it. Most the population of India lives in village and the schools in rural areas have little or no facilities. In some areas teachers are lazy, always drunk, uninspiring and even violent towards children. A very little improvements have been done in the educational system on the part of government and the public educational system is unable the match with the new demands of the Industry etc.

Solutions Private investment in the field of education has increased and is job oriented. But most of the people can not afford the costs of sending their children to schools and colleges. To alleviate such problems it will take a great deal of efforts and commitment on part of public and private sectors of India. New organizations, committees, examinations will be required to improve the quality of education. Government may need to come up with such schemes as providing meals, books and supplements so that children can be inspired to come to schools.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference

Saturday, 21st June, 2008

APHC All Parties Hurriyat Conference is a mixed bag of ideologies and personalities that claim to represent the ‘true’ wishes and will of the Kashmiri people. APHC is the alliance of separatist parties and leaders consider them selves to be freedom fighters fighting for the freedom of Kashmir and justify their militancy sponsoring activities as freedom struggle. They do not recognize the Indian constitution and has always stayed away from all the elections held for J&K assembly so far.

Separatists All Parties Hurriyat Conference was formed on March 1993 as a political front to struggle for the cause of Kashmir separatism. Pakistan has consistently supported this separatist group to legitimate its claim over the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. Though they have repeatedly emphasized on a dialogue to resolve the Kashmir issue, they have consistently stayed away whenever there was any opportunity of dialogue. By staying away form the dialogue process they try to project themselves as the bigger and more exclusive group in the process for resolving the Kashmir issue though all of its decisions and acts are influenced by instructions from across the border.

Pakistan Sponsored When Indian armed forces launched counter-insurgency operations Kashmiri militants soon realized that they were following only the Pakistani policy of creating troubles inside India there was nothing that could be called a freedom struggle except killings of innocent people. Hurriyat Pakistan has always attempted to portray its proxy war against India as an indigenous uprising against Indian sovereignty and Hurriyat backed by it has always worked as a cover for its violence supporting activities in India

Thinking Goals of the APHC were, to struggle for the right of self determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, find an alternative solution to the dispute by involving third party and mainly to project the ongoing struggle as a struggle against the “forcible and fraudulent Occupation of Kashmir by India”. It supports the Pakistani claim that Kashmir is a disputed state and India’s control on it is unjustified and the dispute needs to be solved ‘ as per the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Unrealistic Thought Hurriyat claims itself to the ‘true representative of the people of J&K, it has never participated in the assembly elections. Reason is very simple that if it takes part into the elections, the myth of its ‘true representation’ will get broken and that will be the end of its Pakistan backed games that it is playing by misleading the innocent people of Jammu and Kashmir.
