India’s Anti-Missile Shield

Thursday, 31st July, 2008

India has stepped up efforts to build an interceptor missile that will track the enemy missile and destroy it inside(endo) and outside(exo) of the atmosphere of earth. India has already tested the missile twice and has reached  near completion of the project. It is being said in next few days third test of the missile will be conducted from the Wheeler Island off Orissa’s coast that will track the and destroy the incoming long range enemy missile in the outer atmosphere of the earth at the attitude of around 80-km.

India had conducted the first test of an “exo-atmospheric’ hypersonic interceptor missile in 2006 to destroy the incoming missile at the attitude of 40-50 km. It was a successful test that of the system that can be compared to Israel’s Arrow-2 BMD system. Second test of the system was conducted in December that demonstrated the capability akin to the American PAC-3 system. It was an “endo atmospheric” interceptor missile that tracked and destroyed an incoming missile enemy missile at the attitude of 15 km.

It has been told that DRDO has divided the project in phases. The third test that will be conducted in September-October will be the integrated mode of ‘exo’ and ‘endo’ interceptor missile with of capacity of intercepting the “2,000-km class targets” . It is being considered the Phase-1. DRDO will develop the system that will intercept “5000-km targets”.

DRDO chief controller for missiles, V K Saraswat, had  told TOI that the BMD system of Phase-I should be ready for deployment by 2011 or so, after several tests against a variety of missiles to ensure “a kill probability of 99.8%”. This is a very complex project as far as the variety, speed and range of the missiles is concerned.”It’s like stopping a bullet by hitting it with another bullet. Even the US is still to master it completely,” said a scientist.

US, Russia and Israel are the only other three countries that have BMD Systems. It will give India an edge over Pakistan and China that have a wide variety of missiles.

Damage Control Process

Thursday, 31st July, 2008

Ruling UPA alliance has won the trust motion which is being considered as a green signal to the Prime Minister to go ahead with the n-deal with full vigor. The results of the trust motion left everyone shocked with severely affected their future plans. It was BJP which was the worst sufferer as its four MPs voted in favor of the UPA government and four MPs abstained the voting.

Opposition leader alleged that UPA has survived only by bribing the MPs. He called it a tainted victory. Meanwhile BJP has expelled eight of its MPs who had defied the party whip and voted in favor of UPA. It must be learnt that UPA has won only on the bases of cross voting and abstentions from the opposition. On the other hand TDP has also initiated disciplinary action against its two MPs who had voted in favor of UPA going against the party stand.

One positive outcome of whole of the process is that all the Left parties, BSP and UNPA have formed Third Front. Leaders of all these parties had met at the residence of BSP chief Mayawati and chalked out their future strategy. They also announced that a national wide agitation will be launched to protest nuclear deal, inflation and horse-trading. They also said that democracy has suffered because of horse-trading and government has lost morally.

On the other hand government has stepped up its efforts to secure the n-deal. Government is planning to launch lobbying campaign among Nuclear Suppliers Group to muster support for the nuclear deal. Government has already lost a lot of time because of Left’s opposition and later on withdrawal of support to the government to the n-deal. As elections are nearing in US, government wants to secure the n-deal before that.

Meanwhile, CPM has expelled Somnath Chatterjee from the party. It must be learnt that Somnath Chatterjee is also the Speaker of Lok Sabha, who had declined to resign in response to the party whip so that he can take part in the voting. This special session of parliament will be remembered by the people of the nation for open allegations of horse-trading and cross voting. But there are some positive developments also. Manmohan singh has emerged as the leader who with his sole determination has led the Congress and the nation towards achievement of n-energy. Another positive development is formation of Third Front. Last and most important is that Lok Sabha Speaker has set an example of being a neutral Speaker.

ishmeet-singh-sodhi2.jpeg

Music Industry Who ever heard the news was shocked and saddened by the tragic end that Ishmeet met. Only last years , people from all walks of life-friends, relatives, fans, Sikh community and especialy Punjabies from all of the world had led a campaign and proudly and unabashedly voted in favor of Ishmeet singh that made him the winner of the TV show. The news of his death spread in his home town like the wildfire. No one believed the news first but atlast accepted the end of the melodious vioce. Bollywood too was deeply shocked by the news. Abhijeet Bhattacharya deeply shocked by the news said ,”I don’t know how to react, he was like my son. I can’t believe that Ishmeet is no more.”

ishmeet-singh-sodhi1.jpeg

Life He had given up his studies and had gone against the wishes of his parents to attend the show. He was from a simple middle class family of singers. He has learnt singing from the very tender age. The nighingale of India who himself had presented the winning award to budding singer after the final of the show has expressed ‘ deep shock’. He was honoured by the a Sikh NGO named Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle with the award of Young Sikh Star of Punjab at Harmander Sahib, Amritsar. He had participated in another singing compitition named “Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar” but was eliminated from the show on June 20, 2008. and-now-ahmadabad-becomes-target-of-militants3.jpeg

Ahmadabad Following Bangalore, Ahmadabad became the next target of serial bomb blasts planted by the militants. These twin strikes by militants at weekend took the whole nation by surprise. 17 bomb blasts rocked the Ahmadabad on Saturday. Numbers of dead kept on rising as there were many critically wounded people who succumbed to their injuries lator on. But the worst attack was waiting for the innocent people in the government civil hospital. When the injured were being brought to the hospital and there was a huge rush, the bomb went of that was planted in a car inside the hospital. According to the witnesses more than 25 people died in the blast.

and-now-ahmadabad-becomes-target-of-militants1.jpeg

Indian Mujahidin Militants had used the same technique as they had used the previous day. Bombs were planted at the most populous places and were timed to blast at the rush hours to maximize the death toll. A group that has named itself ‘ Indian Mujahidin’ has taken the responsibility of triggering the bomb blasts. But intelligence sources say that it is the changed name of SIMI. Militants had planted and timed the bombs in such a manner that the damage could be maximized. At some places there were two bombs planted with separate timings. When people rushed to help the injured people the second bomb used to blast.

and-now-ahmadabad-becomes-target-of-militants2.jpeg

Lessons This was the second major terrorist strike after the Jaipur blasts. It also indicated the failure of state and central secret agencies to track the culprits in advance. Bur what surprised the nation most was that on the next day two abandoned cars full of bombs and about nine live bombs planted at separate places were found in the Surat city. It was the timely information that prevented the major catastrophe. But it could become possible only because of the active support of the local public to the police. Militants used every means to rise tensions between the two communities. But public has shown maturity and have understood the motifs of the militants. It has also shook the intelligence agencies to change according to the time and not to act according to their perceptions. It has also forced the government to think seriously about how to increase co-operation between all the investigation agencies. Public, intelligence agencies and the government have learnt some lessons to avoid the disaster in future.

Indian Political Drama (4)

Tuesday, 29th July, 2008

This season’s political Ramleela is in its last stage as the debate on trust move is under process and the dying moments have brought some startling facts in front of the public. Indo-US n-deal has revealed some of the hidden truths of the Indian politics that public used to hear in the past but was never sure about the authenticity of the facts.. Though the special session of the parliament is going on and discussions are mainly focused on the n-issue the public has got its own view of whole of the developments. It is being said that most of the politicians are appearing in the special session to ‘cash’ the moment.

pm1jpeg.gif

Criminals have come to Delhi to attend the special session. Even the ‘sick’ politicians have been flown to play their roles in the time of ‘national crises. MPs are selling like hot cakes these days. The moment of interest came when some BJP MPs showed the wads of cash in the Lok Sabha. They also told the house that they were offered crores of rupees to abstain from the voting and save the UPA government. They told in the house that they were given the amount of one crore in advance and the remaining nine crores were promised to be paid to them after the end of the voting by one of the Samajwadi Leader.

pm21.jpeg

Public will always remember this special session of Lok Sabha not for the Indo-US n-deal but for the startling facts it has brought to surface. Allegations and counter allegations is the job that Indian politicians do. If a list is prepared to decide the most dangerous elements to the unity of India then politician will be at no. one place followed by militants and criminals. This bribery issue has shocked the whole of the nation. It is the black day in the history of one of the biggest democracy of the world. Though in the past all the main political parties had sideline most of the criminal elements in a slow and steady way but when the time of test came their ideology  faded away and criminals were called the save the government.

Rising Power of Militants in Kashmir

Monday, 28th July, 2008

Recent Incidents As the time of assembly elections in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir is nearing the violence in Kashmir has increased. During the 2nd and 3rd weeks of July Indian military has foiled many infiltration bids. More than 20 infiltrators have been killed while entering into the Indian territory from the side of Pakistan occupied Kashmir. In the recent times many incidents have happened when militants have attacked the security personal. Militants has carried out one of the deadliest attack on the security personal after the ceasefire between India and Pakistan .They detonated an IED which blew of a bus that was carrying security personal. Eight persons have died and more that 30 are critically wounded.

rising-power-of-militants-in-kashmir1.jpeg

Foreign Elements Recent confrontations between and the security personal and the militants and the other violent activities carried out by the militants indicate that hardcore and well- trained Pakistani militants have infiltrated the Indian territory and are themselves carrying out the violent activities. Security forces had decreased the power of militant outfits by killing and arresting most of their local leaders last year. But the increase and the striking power of the militants indicate that foreign elements have been sent to keep the militant organizations afloat.

rising-power-of-militants-in-kashmir2.jpeg

Peace Process Though dialogue process between India and Pakistan is under process but a very little substantial has happened except some cross border road links. But these cross border links has brought a very little relief to the people of the state as the people have to go through many administrative procedures to cross the border. On the other hand some elements in Pakistan’s Military and ISI are not happy with the peace process because it does not serve their personal interests. They are trying to derail the peace process so that they can keep their ‘struggle’ afloat.

rising-power-of-militants-in-kashmir3.jpeg

Elements Pakistan’s internal situation is also not favorable as for as the peace process is concerned. President and the Elected Government are not at easy terms with each other. And anti-Indian elements are exploiting the situation to carry out their ill-conceived battle against India. Congress government’s lackluster approach to handle the J&K issue is also responsible for the increase in violence in Kashmir. On the other hand militants have stepped up the violent activities with the purpose of disrupting the forthcoming assembly elections in the state.

Bahujan Samaj Party

Sunday, 27th July, 2008

Ideology Bahujan Samaj Party is one of the main national parties of India. It was formed by the magnetic leader name Babu Kanshi Ram in 1984.Elephant is the symbol of the party. It projects itself the political party that represents the lowest sections of the society especially Dalits and other SC, ST and minority classes. It claims to be the only party that represents all of the lowest sections of the Indian society irrespective of their religion and that follows the philosophy of one of the dalit leader B.R. Ambedkar.

bahujan-samaj-party1.jpeg

Mayawati BSP is presently headed by Mayawati who has emerged as the supreme leader of the party after the death of its founder Babu Kanshi Ram. She has been the chief minister of the state of Utter Pradesh for four times. She is the aggressive leader and has always remained in headlines because of her bitter relations with the Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav. BSP is the strongest political party in the state of UP. It presently has 19 MPs in the Parliament. It must be learnt it is the state of UP that plays an important role in deciding the formation of Central Government as there are 80 constituencies in the State.

bahujan-samaj-party2jpeg.gif

Third Front India, for the last two decades, is being led by the coalition governments. We have seen more than five central governments that were formed with the active participation of the regional and small parties. And BSP has always played a crucial role in formation of the central governments. BSP has emerged as the strongest party that will decide the fate of the central government in the future. After the withdrawal of support by the Left parties to the Congress led government, the fate of the central government is equally balanced. It is being said that BSP will very soon join the UNPA With the support of Left UNSA has emerged as the third major political power in the country and some political pundits say that it is the revival of the third front. It is being said that Mayawati will the projected as the prime ministerial candidate by the UNPA. It will be first time that after Congress and BJP a person from a third party will be projected as the prime ministerial candidate in the elections. It will not be an unexpected thing if in future Mayawati becomes the Prime Minister of India.

Sunday, 27th July, 2008

Childhood Bapu’s childhood name was Asumal. He was born to a wealthy family on 17 November 1941 in the village named Berani of the Nawab district of Sindh state of undivided India. Ansuman was very much influenced by the stories of Hindu scriptures that his mother used to narrate and that later on proved to be the guiding force that led him towards spirituality. During his student days he used to be a brilliant boy with a sharp memory. He used to meditate when other children of his age used to play in the free time. After the partition of India their family migrated from Sindh to Maninagar of the district of Gujarat. Asumal soon realized that the school education was only meant to make the students able enough so that they can earn their livelihood. Though he continued his studies but whenever he got free time he used to meditate at some lonely place.

Swami Sri Lilashahji Maharan accepted him as his disciple and after many tests asked him to go home and continue his quest at home. Rahul Gandhi

Saturday, 26th July, 2008

rahul-gandhi2.jpeg

Gandhi Family Rahul Gandhi is the heir of India’s most prominent political family, the Gandhi Family. His great grandfather was the first Prime Minister of India. His grandmother Mrs. Indira Gandhi was a renowned political leader who has also remained the Prime Minister of India till her assassination. After the death of his grandmother Mrs. Indira Gandhi, Rahul’s father Rajiv Gandhi became the Prime Minister of India in 1984. was also assassinated by the LTTE. After the death of Rajiv Gandhi though Congress for some years ruled India but its power also decreased. Though their were many veteran leaders in the Congress but it was lacking a charismatic leader who could attract masses.

rahul-gandhi1.jpeg

Leaderless P.V Narsimha Rao and Seeta Ram Kesri headed the Congress for some years but on ground level its political base kept on shrinking and performed its worst in the elections fought during their time. When wife of late Shri Rajiv Gandhi joined Congress it found a leader who could attract masses. Later on her son Rahul Gandhi and daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadhra also joined the party that further put the Congress on track to achieve its old glorious days. Though, presently there are only 159 MPs who have been elected on the Congress ticket but next elections indicate that Congress under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi will perform well as compared to the previous elections.

rahul-gandhi3.jpeg

Young Leader Rahul Ghandi brought with him a fress air that revitalized the dying Congress. Born on 19 June 1970 this young politician represent his Grandmother’s favorite Amethi seat. He entered into politics in March 2004 when he successfully fought the MP elections. Presently he is general secretary of All India Congress Committee and also heads Youth Congress and National Students Union of India. He and his sister campaigned for their mother Sonia Gandhi during the reelection to the Rai Bareilli seat in 2006. People o f India once again noticed the coming of old glorious day of Congress when Gandhi family led the country towards achievement of n-energy despite stiff resistance by the opposition. It is also being expected that in the coming years he could be the Prime Ministerial candidate of Congress in the elections.

Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal

sant-balbir-singh-seechewal1.jpeg

Sikh Saints In Punjab, one of the northern state on India, there are many Sikh organizations led by Sikh saints that are indulged in social welfare schemes at a very large scale. Sikh saints and organizations have always given priority to establish educational institutes in the past. Later on they turned their attention to provide health facilities to the poor people by establishing charitable hospitals and dispensaries. There are many prominent Sikhs and Sikh Saints who have worked for the welfare of the people. But one name that shot into fame in a very short span of time is of environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal. He relentlessly worked and led the movement to clean the historic holy Bein(KaliBein).

sant-balbir-singh-seechewal2.jpeg

Kar Sewa Kali Bein is associated with Guru Nanak Dev JI, founder of Sikhism. It is believed that Guru Nanak had taken a holly dip in the Bein, remained inside water for three days and nights and had attained enlightenment five centuries ago. With the passage of time this holy river had turned into a dead river, only a virtual sewer. Sant Seechewal motivated thousands of people of the neighboring villages and towns and his followers to join the Kar Sewa(voluntary service) to clean the Kali Bein. It is a 160 km long river that was filled with muddy waters and overgrown weeds. He first himself jumped into the river that motivated the volunteers to follow him in July 2000.It took more than seven years to complete the mammoth task. During whole of the process flow of industrial waste and sewerage into the river was blocked . Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal had to cross many huddles to complete the task.

sant-balbir-singh-seechewal3.jpeg

President of India Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal has been praised for his work by all of the world. He has done what the government and environmentalists are unable to do though they are having plentiful of money. Now the riven has been embanked and drains have be blocked that polluted the river in the past. Former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam had praised the work of the Saint whenever he had discussed about environment in India and abroad and had himself visited the place and had met the Saint. This movement shows how much the Saints and the rural people of India are sensitive to the environment. Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal took the initiative and rest of the work was done by people who participated in the movement irrespective of their religion, cast and creed.

Deeply Shocked India

deeply-shocked2.jpeg

Lok Sabha Two days’ of special session of Lok Sabha has stunned the nation. Public’s belief in democracy is deeply shaken. Though public opinion was in favor of Indo-US n-deal, the way in which Mr. Clean (Manmohan Singh) led government has mustered the required support for the survival of the government, will not be accepted by the public. For last many days charges were being made by the opposition parties that UPA and some of its allies were using every kind of means to lure away their MPs. But the drama reached at its peak when some of the BJP MPs tabled the wads of currency and openly made allegation on the 2nd day of the special session of the Lok Sabha that they were bribed by one of the Samajwaji Leader.

deeply-shocked1.jpeg

Discussions Cash for vote issue has triggered massive discussions not in higher political circles but among the masses also. Indians brag about their democracy and the secularism. But bribery issue has revealed their hypocrisy. It is uncertainty every where in India and public is anxiously waiting for the elections when it will be able to teach a lesson to the UPA they way it has molested their faith in democracy. Bribery issue has forced the people to recall the rule of Indira Gandhi who used to use money power to keep her agenda and government on track. She had imposed emergency to teach a lesson to her opponents but was severely punished by the public by defeating in the general elections and was put in the Tihar Jail.

deeply-shocked3.jpeg

Opposition All of the opposition parties are planning to launch a campaign throughout whole of the country to oppose the government for the rising prices, Indo-Us n-deal and the cash for vote issues. Some of the opposition parties had made allegations that UPA government harassing some of the opposition MPs by using CBI.BSP Chief Mayawati has been slapped with some cases. Some of the MPs have also alleged that they were frightened to be charge sheeted by the CBI if they not voted in favor of UPA. The way some of the MPs changed their sides only indicates that ideology followed by politicians is of ‘aaya ram gaya ram’.

Options After the withdrawal of support by the Left parties to the UPA, Indians had started to guess about their next Prime Minister. There were only to options first was BJP leader Lal Krishan Advani and the other was present PM Dr. Manmohan Singh. But after the withdrawal of support Congress led coalition government found its new ally SP and had thus become able to fill the vacuum created by Left that also helped it to win the trust motion.

Price Hike Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was unable to launch the next stage of economic reforms because of opposition by the Left allies. Price rise of the oil in international market forced the Indian government to increase the prices of oil in the domestic market. Prices of other commodities were also affected by the oil price hike that severely affected the poor people. Rises in the price of wheat and rice had already affected the people.

pm11.jpeg

L.K. Advani When PM decided to go with the n-deal left withdrew support to the UPA government. Everybody thought that government will be unable to muster the required support for its survival and early elections are unavoidable. In such circumstance, it was evident that BJP will emerge as the single largest party and NDA could form the new government. But victory of the UPA in the trust motion has dashed L.K. Advani’s all hopes of becoming the next Prime Minister of India after the fall of the UPA government.

pm2.jpeg

Mayawati It was being considered that there is no third political party that is strong enough to offer an alternative to BJP and Congress led alliances. But after the trust motion UNPA has emerged as the third strongest political front. BSP, Left and UNPA has formed the third front which has declared BSP chief as its Prime Ministerial candidate for the elections that are scheduled to be held early next year. If third front succeeds in remaining united then it can emerge as the strongest alliance in the elections. It must be learnt that if percentage of votes secured by these parties is added then it is better than both of the other alliances.

pm3.jpeg

As in some of the states assembly elections have recently been held that indicate the swing in favor of NDA which was the reason that prompted BJP to vote against the government in the trust motion. With the win in the trust motion Congress has got more than six months in which it can control the inflation. With the emergence of third front and UPA’s victory in the trust vote, hopes of NDA’s returning to power have been severely affected. When the election will be held in the early months of next year a lot will depend on the present circumstances that will decide the next Prime Minister of India. But present political developments indicate that NDA has slipped to the third place as for as the total vote share is concerned.

Vote for Note

Wednesday, 23rd July, 2008

vote-for-note2.jpeg

Parliament Session Two days of special session of Lok Sabha brought many surprises that even the ‘main’ politicians had not expected. Day one offered nothing special except allegations and counter allegations by both of the groups and adjournment of the house. But on day two whole of the country was stunned to see the behavior of most of the MPs and the sudden development when three BJP MPs stood up showing wads of Indian currency alleging that they were bribed by a leader on one of the main allies of the UPA to abstain from confidence motion.

vote-for-note3.jpeg

Bribery All the three BJP MPs, elected from Madhya Pradesh, Ashok Argal and Fagan Singh Kulaste (Madhya Pradesh) and Mahavir Bhagora (Rajasthan) showed the wads and tabled in front of the secretary-general. They told that it was 1 crore given to Mr. Argal as in advance. They alleged that each of them was promised three crores. And remaining amount was scheduled to be paid after the voting. They also claimed of having recorded whole of the ‘drama’ with the help of CNN-IBN that is enough evidence to prove the allegations. They told that it was Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh’s assistant Sanjeev Saxena who had given them the money at Argal’s house.

vote-for-note1.jpeg

Shame for Democracy Though Lok Sabha Speaker Som Nath Chaterjee has ordered the enquiry and the UPA government has survived the trust motion; the people of the nation are shell-shocked. For the last month public was seeing the politicians changing their sides and it was being expected that as for as the issue of n-deal is concerned there will be a serious discussion followed by voting in the special session of Lok Sabha. Most of the population of the nation is unaware even of the meaning of the word ‘n-energy’. And it can not be expected that these ignorant people will give their opinion on the issue. In such circumstance it is the duty of the leaders to act, keeping in view the future of the country. It is the necessity that India should be independent in the field of energy and n-energy is the best available option. Instead of discussing the issue most of the opposition as well as ruling coalition leaders remained focused the prove each other ‘more corrupt’. This is a shame for the country and for the democracy.

Indian Approach to N-Deal

Tuesday, 22nd July, 2008

USA and India Indo-Us n-deal issue is the topic that has brought the nation to the verge of early elections before the schedule. From general people to the politicians all are busy to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the agreement on n-deal. But these discussions are less based on n-energy as most of attention is given to Indo-US relations. After the end of Cold War it is the first time that relations between both the countries have reached to such a height. There are many reasons that have brought both of the nations so close to each other. After the collapse of USSR it is China that has emerged as a major power that can challenge the US supremacy. India on the other hand is also worried of the emerging economic and military power of China. India and China both have disputes regarding their borders that are the major reason of the mistrust between both of the countries.

indians-approach-to-n-deal1.jpeg

Energy Requirements After China India is the second fastest emerging economy. Its energy requirements are also emerging with the emergence of its economy. But India meets its more than 70 percent energy requirements by importing petroleum products from abroad. India’s dependency on other countries directly affects the economy. It is evident from the point that rises in the crude oil prices in the international market has directly affected the inflation rate which was below 4 percent and now has neared 12 percent. Indo-US deal will open the doors of nuclear energy for India and economic and technical relations with the NSG countries.

indians-approach-to-n-deal2.jpeg

Deal According to the deal India will separate its nuclear rectors to civilian use in a phased manner. IAEA safeguards will be applied on these ‘civilian’ reactors that will produce electricity by using the imported uranium. India is not allowed to use the imported uranium for military and research purposes. If it is done then agreement will end automatically and India will have to send the uranium back. On the other hand energy produced in these reactors will be cheaper that will boost the industrial growth and also will make India self-sufficient in the field of energy. Unstable middle-east and neighboring countries has always threatened regular energy supplies. N-energy is the only option that can meet India’s emerging energy requirements in future with uninterrupted supply.

Starving Girl Suicides

Monday, 21st July, 2008

Starvation In a shocking incident, a starving girl of Madha Pradesh’s Jaballpur town committed suicide. According to ToI the mother of the girl named Sanjeeda told the police that she had not eaten anything for the last two days because their was nothing in the house that could be eaten. Her mother tried but could not get the food grains under the chief minister’s Annapurna Yojana (scheme) following which she committed suicide.

starving-girl-suicides1jpeg.gif

Questions This incident has raised several questions about the credibility of the various welfare schemes initiated by the central and the state government. The first question that the district administration will have to face is why she could not succeed in the getting the food grains under the chief minister’s Annapurna Yojana. That is why district collector was at pains to present the post-mortem examination of the girl in which it was stated that food particles were found in the stomach of the girl.

starving-girl-suicides2.jpeg

Schemes There are several schemes that the central and the state governments have started for the welfare of the various sections of the society. But people never get proper benefits from them. Their ignorance and the administrative corruption are the major reasons. It is a warning for the governing that in future this trend can become a major problem. Politicians will link this incident with the increased prices and will politicize the issue to exploit the feelings of the people. But on ground level a very little improvement will be done.

starving-girl-suicides3jpeg.gif

Reasons There are several parts in India where natural calamities damage the crops every year. Though there are various schemes lack of funds and irregularities has always prevented the people from getting the proper benefits of these schemes. At lowest level Village heads and local political leaders play an important role as for as the welfare schemes are concerned. It depends on one’s relations with these people that decide that whether a person is eligible to get the benefits of the schemes. Only those people can apply for these schemes that have ration cards or some other documents that are made on the basis of the one’s economic status. But no special criteria is followed to shortlist the eligible families.
