Maoists strike Again

Second Attack Maoists have shocked the government with the second biggest attack on the Orrisa police personal after the one on the boat carrying the greyhound commandos in which more than 30 police personal had died. Maoists had attacked MV-79 village on Tuesday night. The security personal were returning to Belimela after conducting combing operations. The security personal were ambushed by the suspected Maoists in the way.   Attack On Tuesday night Maoists had attacked the house of a local BJP leader and had looted Rs. 60.000 and ornaments. While returning to their hideouts they had cut off and felled tree to prevent the immediate arrival of the security personal. When some of the securities personal were clearing the road Maoists fired them and at the same time triggered the IED blast that blew of the anti-landmine van in which remaining security personal were sitting. Maoists used a huge quantity of explosives to blow off the vehicle as it was an anti-landmine vehicle. All of the securities personal were killed by the Maoists when they were trying to come out of the overturned vehicle.   Power In the recent times the power of Maoists has increased a lot and they also have got modern weapons. In the present situation, police personal who are ill-equipped and unaware of jungle warfare cannot face them. Maoists are expanding their base and the governments of the affected states are unable to tackle the menace. Government could not succeed to improve the economic status of the people of these states even after 60 years of Independence. People of these states are illiterate and very poor. Corrupt politicians and administration have always prevented the people from getting benefits of the various welfare schemes initiated by the central government for the unemployed and poor people of the country.   And now when Maoists have become so powerful that they have started to attack the security personal, it needs that the central government should intervene in the situation so that the adequate measure could be taken to tackle the menace and prevent the people from choosing the way that will lead them to nowhere.

Starving Girl Suicides

Starvation In a shocking incident, a starving girl of Madha Pradesh’s Jaballpur town committed suicide. According to ToI the mother of the girl named Sanjeeda told the police that she had not eaten anything for the last two days because their was nothing in the house that could be eaten. Her mother tried but could not get the food grains under the chief minister’s Annapurna Yojana (scheme) following which she committed suicide. Questions This incident has raised several questions about the credibility of the various welfare schemes initiated by the central and the state government. The first question that the district administration will have to face is why she could not succeed in the getting the food grains under the chief minister’s Annapurna Yojana. That is why district collector was at pains to present the post-mortem examination of the girl in which it was stated that food particles were found in the stomach of the girl. Schemes There are several schemes that the central and the state governments have started for the welfare of the various sections of the society. But people never get proper benefits from them. Their ignorance and the administrative corruption are the major reasons. It is a warning for the governing that in future this trend can become a major problem. Politicians will link this incident with the increased prices and will politicize the issue to exploit the feelings of the people. But on ground level a very little improvement will be done. Reasons There are several parts in India where natural calamities damage the crops every year. Though there are various schemes lack of funds and irregularities has always prevented the people from getting the proper benefits of these schemes. At lowest level Village heads and local political leaders play an important role as for as the welfare schemes are concerned. It depends on one’s relations with these people that decide that whether a person is eligible to get the benefits of the schemes. Only those people can apply for these schemes that have ration cards or some other documents that are made on the basis of the one’s economic status. But no special criteria is followed to shortlist the eligible families.
