India At Beijing Olympics(7)

Semifinal Indian boxer Vijender Kumar could not convert his possibilities of winning a silver or gold medal into reality in the Beijing Olympics as he lost to Cuba’s Emilio Correa Bayeaux in the semifinal of middleweight (75kg) bout on Friday. But his defeat has not disappointed the Indian as his bronze medal is first-ever boxing medal for India in Olympics   Match Summary Is was a closely contested match as for as the points are concerned. Vijender had lost the first round by 2-0. But at the end of the second round he reduced the margin by 3-4. But in the Third round Cuban bounced back and increased the lead by 7-3. Emilio used the strategy of back-paddling after landing punches. All his punched were straight and precise. His strategy thwarted all the efforts of Vijender who once again failed to score in the third round. In the fourth and the decider round Vijender was more offensive by he could not score enough points to win the game. Emilio committed a foul and was awarded a two point penalty the reduced the difference between points by 8-5.   Comparison Emilio was clearly a better boxer than Vijender as he did not allow him to land even a single blow in the first, second and fourth rounds. Vijender could not take advantage of his height as the Cuban played form a distance. Emilio’s quick footwork, reach straight and strong punches paid him rich dividends. Vijender easily avoided his right punches but could escape the strong left punches.   Vijender Though he has lost the semifinal but has promised to his countrymen that he will won the gold in the London Olympics for the country. According to Indian Express he has said, “I’m very upset and want to say sorry to all for I could not win the bout. But I promise to come back in 2012 Olympics and beat this guy and win gold.”   Record Beijing Olympics have reveled that Indian boxers can compete at the world level. In this Olympics, three Indian boxers had reached the quarter finals which in itself is a big achievement. Except it India has won gold and two bronze medals that is its best record as for as the Olympic games are concerned.

Pak’s Independence Gifts to India

Independence Day India and Pakistan have celebrated their 61st  independence day on the 15th and 14th August.  Both the countries were the part of united Indian under the colonial rule of Britishers. They got independence on the midnight of 14-15 August 1947. United India was divided into two parts on the basis of religion. Muslims migrated to Pakistan and Hindus and Sikhs to India. Thousands of people died during migration because of communal clashes. Since then both the countries have remained always at logger heads with each other. They have fought four wars since then in which Pakistan always attacked and was defeated by India. Kashmir has always soured the relations between both of the countries. India is a world largest democracy and an emerging economy on the other hand Pakistan was ruled mostly by Military, directly and indirectly that has brought the country almost to the verge of a failed state.   Pak Rulers Pakistan’s rulers have always tried to destabilize India by instigating the communal feeling in all parts of India. Whether it was state of Punjab or Jammu and Kashmir they have always helped the militant organizations to carry out destructive activities and have raised voices in favor of militants organizations at the international level. Latest such attempt was seen when on the eve of independence day their ‘disputed’ President raised the issue of Kashmir in his address to his nation. He went to such an extent that India had to show protest at the international level. Pakistani President P. Musharaf raised the Kashmir issue twice. But on the other hand their Prime Minister was talking about to do more to normalize the relations with India and go ahead with the peace process.   Ceasefire Violations In another incident Pak military once again violated the ceasefire agreement  when both of the countries are celebrating their Independence days. According to the Indian security agencies Pakistani troops attacked  two Indian military and BSF positions with mortars and rockets in the Jammu region of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It must be borne in mind that both the countries had agreed in 2003  to keep peace on the LoC and solve all the issues by dialog. But since the month of June Pak military has many times violated the cease fire. One the other hand Indian Prime Minister in his address to the nation has warned Pakistan that if [...]
