Power Game In West Bengal(India)

Seize These days a small town of West Bengal named Singur is in headlined because of Trinamool Congress leader Mamta Benerjee’s agitation against Tata’s Nano project. Construction and production work at the plant has severely been affected. Mamta led agitators have laid a seize around the Nano plant which forced the management of the company to stop the work. Her agitation has caused road blockade also. Thousands of trucks are stranded at the road which has put more pressure on the state government because it has caused scarcity of fruit and vegetables that will result in public dissatisfaction with the state government.   Land Her agitation against the Tata’s was being seen as the struggle for land between the farmers and the industrialists. But her political motifs got exposed when she refused to all the dialog invitations sent to her by state government, Governor and the Tata company. She is demanding that 400 hundred acres of land should be given back to the farmers. On the other hand Tata management has said it clearly that the land is required by them as it will be used to construct ancillary units that are necessary to keep the costs low for the production of world’s cheapest car.   Politics Ratan Tata had already warned that they will move the project out of the state if the agitations continue. Company has made its intentions clear that it is worried about the security of the staff instead of huge financial losses that it will suffer if it moves out of the state. But Mamta Benerjee, herself has become the ‘messiah’ for the farmers though a few are demanding their land back. She is using the land issue just for the political gains. She had successfully used the Nandigram issue in the last election and had improved her political records. But Tata issue has placed her in a very tight place. If Tata departs from the state it will send wrong signals in the corporate world about the state of Bengal that will severely hit the investment in the state. One the other hand She will loose her Urban as well as the rural support. Majority of the Bengalis want Tata to stay in the state. She is fighting a battle that she will certainly loose. She is trying to project ‘Right as Left and Left as Right’. For her political interests, she has put [...]

But in another statement in the court he had recognized Sanjeev Nanda as one of the car occupants. This case had hit the head lines once again as a news channel’s sting operation had exposed the nexus between Nanda’s counsel, R K Anand, and prosecutor I U Khan that had subverted the free and fare administration of Justice. Later on Delhi High Court had held senior advocate R K Anand and colleague I U Khan guilty of interfering in the free flow of justice and and barred them from entering into the courts for four months.   This case has exposed that how the rich can temper with the evidence and can interfere in the free flow of justice. Communal Clashes in Orissa

Riots After the killing of a Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Swami Laxmananand Saraswati and four of his disciples  by the Naxals in the Kandhamal district of Orissa communal violence has spread into the state. VHP, RSS and many other radical Hindu organizations had  given a band call for Monday .There activists forced the people to support their move. During the band, Christian community was at the receiving end following which  violent mobs have burnt more than a dozen churches and have damaged many Christian homes and orphanages. Five persons including a 20 year old girl and a paralyzed man were burnt to death by the violent saffron activists in a backlash to the killing of the VHP leader. Communal clashes continued even on Thursday and death toll had risen to 10 as some more dead bodies were recovered from the remote areas.   Realities Situation in almost half of the blocks of the Kandhamal district had improved though the tension still prevails in these areas. Despite curfew and shoot orders violence incidents have been reported from some remote areas. Situation is worse in the remote villages. According to the reports Christians have fled from some villages and are hiding in forests and hills even without food and cover over their heads. Continuous rains have adder more to their woes. State has the history of communal riots . Recently, in December state had witnessed the communal riots.   Reasons Reasons of whole of the crisis are political, economic as well as religious. These riots should not be viewed as riots between two communities but as a battle for supremacy. Problem started when backward sections embraced Christianity to get financial benefits. A battle was already going between two tribal for the acquisition of land. Entry of Christian missionaries and Sangh Parivar outfits aggravated the situation. The competition for economic sources took religious colors. Government policies of reservation and change in it added more fuel to the fire. A particular community took it as aimed at marginalizing their economic benefits. Religious conversion and reconversion have brought both of the communities against each other. Competition between tribal Kundas and Panas for economic resources have become the battle for supremacy between two communities. It can expand in other areas of the country that will become a big threat to the unity of the nation in long term.
