Riots Till now a very few knew about Kandhamal district of Orissa. But communal clashes between Christians and Hindu have brought it into fame all over the world just in a week. More than 15 persons mostly Christians, have died in the communal clashes that erupted after the murder of the RSS leader in the Kandhamal district of Orissa. State government imposed curfew in the district to prevent the more incidents from happening but till then communal clashes had spread to the other parts of the state. Government succeeded to bring the situation only in the urban areas by imposing curfew but situation in the remote rural areas kept on deteriorating day by day. Many churches were damaged and burnt by the Hindu rioters. Thousands of Christians flee from their homes. Rioters did not spare even the handicapped persons. They burnt alive some Christians along with their homes. Displaced and afraid people had to remain hidden in forests and hills without food and cover over their heads for many days. Politics Many questions have arisen after the Orissa incidents. Clashes between Christians and Hindus are not new in the state of Orissa. And religion is not only the reason behind the clashes. There are some local tribes who have either become Christians or Hindus but their rivalries have not ended. Religious support has only deepened the rivalry. State is being ruled by the NDA alliance and the Center government was waiting to see the situation deteriorating. Deterioration of law and order could have provided enough ground to the UPA alliance to criticize the NDA alliance. It was only happy by sending the “ball into President’s court.” State Government State government totally failed to foresee the situation. Even the district administration failed to provide adequate security to the deceased RSS leaded who had informed the administration about the death threat letter to him. State government did not take adequate steps to defuse the situation even after the murder of the RSS leader. Some hardliner Hindu leaders were allowed to move free which deteriorated the situation.

Raj Thackeray’s Tirade Against North Indians
September 4th, 2008
Aman Tirade Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thakeray’a tirade against north Indians has met a wide spread criticism from all over India. He had broken from his Uncle Bal Thackeray’s Shiv Sena and had formed his own party in March, 2006. Since then he had initiated many campaigns against the none-Mahrashrians. His party had forced thousands of north Indians to flee from Mumbai last year. Their main target were mainly the laborers from the north Indian states of Bihar and Utter Pradesh. In most case his party workers assaulted the north-Indians physically. Later on Students and job-seekers were also targeted. But his party shot into fame when they targeted the Bollywood super-star Amitabh Bachchan. Shopkeepers All his moves are being seen as politically motivated. He wants to impress the local people by exploiting their anti-north Indian emotions. But his moves have made him a notorious person. He wants to establish his party as a major political power in the state but his moves have even angered the local people. Even local people have lost interest in his party as his workers force the local people to follow his party moves. One such move was his campaign regarding the shops’ sign boards. He had asked the shopkeepers to write in Marathi language the sigh boards and had set a time limit. He warned of a strict action against those shopkeepers who would go against his party’s move. But some trade organizations’ opposition has forced him to back tract from his aggressive politics. They have launched signature campaigns against MNS move. Part Of India Mumbai is a part of India and every Indian has the right to go, stay and work there. Though constitutionally it is necessary for the shopkeepers to use Marathi written sign boards but they can not be forced to do that. As most of the population of Mumbai does not know Marathi it will result into a big loss for the business of shopkeepers. Thus, Raj Thackeray’s move is against his own people, state and country. Unity It is the pity with India that many political parties have emerged that have been formed on the basis of religion, caste, language or state. Though leaders use religion, caste etc as to maximize their public support but they indirectly also increase the rifts between communities. Many National Level political parties have successfully used religion and caste to gain [...]
Indo-US N-Deal- Manmohan Government In Tough Situation
September 4th, 2008
krishna Secret Letter Emergence of a supposedly secret letter written by Bush Administration to the Congress in early 2008 has increased problems for the Manmohan Singh led government in India. In the letter Congress has been ensured that no sensitive technology will be shared with India and US would cut off nuclear cooperation with India if it conducts another nuclear test of violated the agreement. Some contents of the letter have enraged the opposition parties in India which were already against the deal. Opposition party has even demanded the resignation of Prime Minister. Indian Stand Some contents of the letter are totally opposite to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s insurance given to the Lok Sabha. India has already made it clear that it will not accept those conditions that compromise its national interests. Though India has not signed CTBT and is not a member of NSG but it has remained committed to nuclear non-proliferation. It has not signed these treaties because of its security and national interests. If India is forced to accept some conditions that goes against its interests it will, with difficulty walk away. PM There is a huge difference between What the Indian government says and what the US government says. Indian government till now has been claiming that the deal has not compromised India’s right to conduct a nuclear test. Government had also said deal would provide uninterrupted supply to the Indian nuclear reactors. Prime Minister Manmohan Sing ensured the Parliament that,“The agreement does not in any way affect India’s right to undertake future nuclear tests, if it is necessary.” But revelation of a letter has proved that PM has mislead the Parliament and the nation. Future US administration had kept this letter secret because at that time Manmohan government was facing a stiff resistance by the opposition and it could have increased the problems for the Manmohan government. But the latest development has brought a lot of criticism for the Manmohan government. On Thursday Manmohan Singh tried to control the damage when he told a Congress Working Committee meeting that “we have the right to test, US has the right to react.” There is a lot of difference what the leaders of both of the countries have said about the deal and what the actual agreement says. In future, the deal will only be followed according to the agreement not what the leaders have [...]
