Saina Nehwal India’s Saina Nehwal, the quarter finalist of Beijing Olympic Games. Became the first ever Indian woman shuttler to win two Grand Prix singles titles when she won the final of the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix Gold badminton championship in Taiwan on Sunday. She defeated her Malaysian opponent Li Ya Lydia Cheah with the margin of 21-8, 21-19. She had shot to lime light after winning the Philippines Open in 2005. After that she could not do well but her performance in the Beijing Olympic Games had increased her confidence level a lot. She had missed an Olympic medal with a very narrow margin as she had lost to Indonesia’s Maria Kristin Yulianti in the quarter final. She is also a two time national champion.

Summary This second-seeded Indian and world ranked 14 played a very attacking game from the start and did not gave any chance to her opponent to reduce the points’ gap. Though in the second set her Malaysian opponent gave a tough fight to her but she could not match the experience of the Indian. Saina said ,”I guess this is perhaps my best performance so far.” She had reached the finals and semi-finals of various tournaments but had not succeeded to win a final. This victory is vary important for her as many top ranked shuttlers had participated in the tournament.

Tournament In this tournament she defeated Mingtian Fu of Singapore, Kwan Yi Monng of Hong Kong, Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand and Pia Zebadiah Bernadet of Indonesian to reach the final. After the pull out decision of top seed Xu Huaiwen of Germany she had become the hot favorite to win the tournament.

She had an opportunity to avenge her Olympic defeat to the third seeded Indonesian Maria Yulianti but the encounter could not materialize as Maria was defeated by Pia Zebadian Bernadet in the quarterfinal. Her quarter final encounter with Porntip Buranaprasertsuk was one of the longest and toughest matches of all of the matches played in the tournament. She won all the three sets of the match with a very narrow difference. She had showed maturity as well as full control in the decisive moments of all the sets and it had turned the match in her favor. Saina had defeated Porntip Buranaprasertsuk by 20-22, 21-12, 23-21.

Explosion Militants struck again the Pakistani capital Islamabad on Saturday evening, September 20 when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside of the Marriott Hotel. According to the reports the suicide bomber had come with a explosives laden truck and blew it off in front of the gates. It is being said that  almost 1000kg of explosives were used in the blast. It was so powerful explosion that Marriott’s lobby and reception which is almost 100 meeters away from the explosion site was totally destroyed and a 20 feet deep and 100 feed wide crater has been left at the explosion site.

Timing When the bomb blast occurred an Iftaar party was going inside the hotel and  many dignitaries including some Americans were inside the hotel. It must be noted that the hotel is located in the high security zone. Security is always kept tight as it is mostly visited by foreigner dignitaries. The explosion happened after some hours of President Asif Ali Zardari’s maiden address to the Parliament in which he had promised to root the terrorism and extremism. When the explosion came President, Prime Minister and other important Pakistani leaders and Generals were attending a party that was very near to the explosion site.

Impact At least 60 persons were killed and more than 200 have been reported to be injured in the explosion. After the explosion, hotel building had caught fire which turned it into an inferno. Many people died while they jumped form the six-storey building to save them selves from the fire. Investigating agencies have suspected the Al-Qaida hand behind the bomb attack. Ever since Pakistan’s initiation o f military action against the Taliban militants hiding in the NWFP, incidents of suicide bomb attacks have increase inside Pakistan. Almost 1000 people have been killed in less than six months in such incidents.

War Pakistan is reaping what is has sown. Its successive governments fueled militancy in India and Afghanistan but it also provided a ground for the Islamic fundamentalists’ backed Taliban to grow inside Pakistan. Now its own brainchild,  Taliban have become the biggest threat to the world and for Pakistan. Coalition forced have started the attacks inside  Pakistani territory in pursuit of Taliban militants.  In such circumstances it becomes necessary for the Pakistani government to wage a war against the terrorists who have become the biggest threat to its unity. But this war will not end with the military action. It will take years to wipe out the influence of the fundamentalists from the society and prevent their resurgence.

Nomination Aamir Khan’s directorial debut film ‘Taare Zameen Par’  has been chosen to  represent India at the Oskars. Aamir himself had produced, directed and acted in this film. It must be borne in mind that after a many years of gap a film was made in which a child was in main lead. Aamir himself had paid the supporting role in the film. Before it, his first home production ‘Lagaan’ had been nominated for the Oscars in 2002. In that film, too, Aamir himself had played a role. Taare Zameen Par was released last year in December. Since then it was widely appreciated and had won various awards in the country. During the selection process ‘Jodha Akbar’ and two Marathi films ‘Valu’ and ‘Tingya’ had given a tough challenge to the ‘ Taare Zameen Par’ but in the end it won the support of all the selectors.

Controversy Last year, ‘Ekalavya’  had been selected to represent India in the Oscars and this decision had triggered a controversy as some sections of the Indian entertainment industry termed the selection as unfair and biased. Even a filmmaker had challenged Film Federation of India’s (FFI) decision in the high court following which High court had set up some guidelines regarding the selection of the films to represent India at international levels. Because of such controversies Aamir has always kept himself away from the award ceremonies held in India.

Universal Appeal Taare Zameen per has a universal appeal as it deals with the problems faced by a dyslexic child. Educational as well as the social systems rejects him as a failure. The hero of the film, a school going child is rejected by his parents as well as by the educational system but his teacher (Aamir Khan) understands the problem faced by the dyslexic child. Whole of the story revolves around the child and his teacher who defeat all the difficulties and the artistic qualities of the child student are brought to surface by the motivation of the teacher.

Everyone had ridiculed Aamir’s new idea of making a child-centric film but when it got released, every section of the society had appreciated it. Amitabh Bachchan had rebuked Aamir Khan when he had not done any effort to send his film to participate in an international event.

Efforts Bush administration is trying hard to get the Indo-US nuclear agreement cleared by the Congress before September 26, a day when this session of the Congress will end. Bush administration has said that uninterrupted fuel supply to India is only a ‘political commitment’. Bush administration is trying very hard to get the clearance by 25 September when Indian Prime Minister will meet the US president. It is being expected that on that day both the countries will sign some agreement that will resume the nuclear trade between both of the countries.

Agreement Elections are scheduled to be held in both of the countries  by the end of this year. Neither Washington nor New Delhi want to leave the fate of the nuclear deal in the hands of the next governments and for it both the governments are trying hard to start the nuclear trade as early as possible. Voting was held on the deal in the US Congress on Friday. To assure the US lawmakers, various US government officials have said that if India conducts a nuclear test successor US government will react according to the US laws. Many US lawmakers had raised questions regarding India’s claims on n-tests. In answer to these questions, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs William Burns told lawmakers that India has the sovereign right to test and US has the sovereign right to respond. He told that if India violates the IAEA safeguards agreement the deal will end with it.

Visits The agreement will become operational with the approval of US Congress and both the sides are determined to sign the deal in the September 25 meeting. If Congress does not approve the agreement then US will be the biggest loser as India has got the right to do business in civil nuclear energy with other countries after the NSG waiver and France and Russia are very keen to resume nuclear trade with New Delhi. France has even offered uninterrupted fuel supply and reprocessing rights to India. Prime Minister will visit Paris on September 30 and Russian President will visit New Delhi in the first week of December. It is being expected that India will sign some agreements with both these countries during this time.

Encounter Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, who was a member of the elite special cell of the Delhi Police succumbed to his injuries in the Holy Family Hospital  on Friday evening. He had got injured while leading a police party which had raided a four storied building in Jamia Nagar in Delhi where some suspected terrorists were hiding. In the encounter two Delhi serial bomb blasts suspects had been killed, one had been arrested while two of their accomplices had escaped unhurt. In the encounter Inspector M C Sharma along with a cop had got injured.

Career Inspector M C Sharma was one of the most expert Delhi Police officer of anti-terrorist operations. He had won seven Gallantry awards including the President’s gallantry award. Except it he had also won 150 police rewards. As a member of Special Cell of the Delhi Police he had played a key role in killing of 35 dreaded  terrorists and arrest of 85 militants. He was an expert in technical and surveillance activities. After  ACP Rajbir Singh, he was Delhi Police’s top terror fighter. ACP Rajbir Singh had been murdered a few months back. After Rajbir’s death some people had said that Delhi police’s special cell will not be able to work properly but Sharma had proved all the critics wrong. He had strengthened the intelligence by developing a vast network of informers during his police career. He had played an important role in cases related to Parliament attack, Red Fort shootout and Diwali serial blasts. Jamia Nagar is the same place where he had killed a dreaded terrorist Abu Shamal,wanted in the Red Fort Attack, in a an encounter in December 2000.

Firing His son had been admitted in a hospital because of dengue and he had directly went to the Jamia Nagar  from the hospital to lead the raid. He was not fully prepared for the raid as he was not wearing a bullet proof jacket when the encounter broke out. He was the first to enter the room where the suspected militants were hiding. He was caught unaware when one of the hiding militant fired at him. In the firing he along with head constable Balwant Singh got injured. They were taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile Head Constable Balwant Singh is stated to be out of danger.

Tendulkar Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar has expressed his views that cricket rivalry between India and Australia is bigger than the traditional rivalry between India and Pakistan. Australia is the number one cricket team of the world and India has over the last eight years always challenged its supremacy. It is because of the competitiveness shown by both the teams that people prefer to watch Indo-Australia cricket matches as compared to India-Pakistan matches. All the series played between India and Australia in last eight years have been fought very closely.

Competition It is only the Indian team that has defeated the Australian team in their home country. It is only the Indian team that has challenged the Australian supremacy and have defeated them many times in their home country. Commenting on Symonds’ absence in the Australian team in the forthcoming series, Tendulkar said that such things have happened in the past and will not affect the results of the matches much. It must be noted that Symonds is an integral part of the Australian team and has won many matches for his side. Spat between Harbhajan Singh and Symonds had grabbed the headlines of most of the International news papers during the last test series played  between both of the countries in Australia. Symonds has not been selected for the Australian team for the forthcoming series on disciplinary grounds.

Rashid Latif Same views have been expressed by former Pakistani captain Rashid Latif. He has supported Tendulkar’s views and has said that Pakistan’s deteriorating bowling attack is also responsible for the situation. Because of it India has always dominated during the last some series played between his country and India. In fact most of the matches were one sided. He has even said that some top Indian players don’t enjoy the competition because of lack of competitiveness. While Australians have the world class bowlers and India’s world class batsmen enjoy the competition with them. But he has said Indians will surely benefit from the absence of Andrew Symonds because he has played some of his best innings against India.

Encounter A militant named Atiq, who was wanted in connection with serial blasts in Ahmadabad and Delhi, along with one of his associates was killed in police encounter in Jamia Nagar area of south Delhi on Friday morning. Two Delhi Police personal also got injured in the fierce encounter that lasted more than an hour. According to the police sources one militant has been apprehended by the police while two of their associated have managed to escape unhurt. It must be noted that more than 120 people have died in serial bomb blasts in three Indian cities and Indian Mujahideen named terrorist group had taken the responsibility of carrying out the crime. According to the Indian intelligence, IM is the changed name of banned Students Islamic Movement of India.

Intelligence Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnail Singh told reporters that acting on an intelligence inputs police raided the house where five suspected militants including Atiq were staying. A police inspector and a constable got injured during the exchange of fire. Another prime suspect in Ahmadabad serial blasts Abu Bashar was brought to Delhi on Thursday to interrogate about the September 13 serial blasts in Delhi. During interrogation he had revealed that he knew about the planning of the Delhi serial blasts but did not knew the exact time. Abu had identified the four storied building near a mosque in Jamia Nagar in which he had stayed with some other suspected militants in the month of July. Delhi police have launched combing operations to nab the militants who had fled during the encounter.

Government This encounter has brought the truth to surface that  SIMI activists are directly linked with the serial bomb blasts triggered in various Indian cities. Some politician demanding the lifting of the ban on SIMI which shows that they had held their political interests more important than the national interests. Home ministry as well as intelligence and police were under constant pressure for their failure to deal with the militants effectively.  Constant criticism had downed their moral very low. This encounter has boosted their moral and has also decreased problems of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil  and at the other hand strong massages have been sent to the militants.

Warning Karnatka Government has ordered a judicial probe in the communal violence against Christians and the  attacks on Churches. After Orissa, communal violence had erupted in Karnatka and some other Indian states. A 150 year old church was set on fire in Jabalpur town of Madhya Pradesh. It was third anti-Christian incident in the state. Spreading communal violence had alerted the Center government. And this time Manmohan Singh led government has taken a timely action and has issued warnings to the state governments of Orissa and Karnatka Under Article 355 to control the communal violence.

Riots Both these state are being ruled by BJP supported governments. BJP has very close relations with Sangh Parivar like the VHP and Bajrang Dal . According to some reports activists of these radical Hindu groups are carrying out attacks on Christians with the undercover support of BJP supported state governments. Communal violence had erupted in Orissa after the murder of a Hindu leader and had spread to the other states. In Orissa many people had been brutally murdered. According to the unconfirmed reports hundreds of people have been killed in Orissa.

Constitution There are three controversial emergency provisions in the Indian constitution according to which center government can impose a national emergency and under Article 356 can dismiss a state government. According to a Supreme Court judgment Article 356 can be used only after invoking of Article 355. Center’s warning have sent strong message  to the state governments and is being praised in many quarters. There are rumors that center government is preparing the ground to invoke article 356. It it happens then it will add more to the rivalry between UPA and NDA. It must be noted that during nineties Congress led government had dismissed five BJP state governments.

Elections Though some people have appreciated the move but according to some people UPA alliance is under great pressure from the opposition for its soft approach to handle militancy and it wants to put the pressure back on the NDA by criticizing it for communal riots. This is only a political move aimed to exploit the public feeling. UPA governments have failed to keep the inflation under control and there are very few chances of UPA’s returning to power. UPA government has failed to effectively handle  the unrest in J&K, flood situation in Bihar and some north-eastern states and the communal violence. It is under great pressure for its failures. It can use the issue of communal violence against the NDA in the forthcoming elections and for it, UPA has started to prepare the ground.

Saif Sardar According to the latest rumors in Bollywood, another superstar has become Singh. Guess who! It is apna Saif Ali Khan who is donning a Sikh look for his home production. It has been reported that he was seen donning a turban while shooting for his untitled home production that is being directed by Jab We Met fame Imtiaz Ali. He and his production unit had shot for five days in Sardar Shankar Road in Lake Market in Kolkata.

Salman It is the historical fact that a very few films have been made in which a Sikh character is a hero. After the success of Singh Is King Bollywood have found a new success mantra and more and more actors are joining the bandwagon to encash at the earliest by their new look. There are reports that Salman Khan is also becoming a Sikh. It is being said that he will play role of a Sikh soldier in his upcoming film Heroes. Except it Ranbir Kapoor will also become a Singh in his upcoming flick.

Success Mantra Akhshay Kumar’s ‘Singh Is King’ is the such second most success Bollywood film in which a hero is a Sikh. First such film was ‘Border’ in which Sunny Deol had played the role of a Sikh. Both these films are a huge hits. Thus Bollywood has found a new mantra that by hero’s donning a Sikh attire in a film can lead to a huge success to any film.

Sikh Organizations If any picture is made in which a central character is a Sikh then it becomes necessary to take the permission of the SGPC and some Sikh organizations for the screening of the picture. It must be learnt that in spite of SGPC’s approval some radical Sikh organizations had objected the release of Akhshay’s ‘Singh Is King’ because according to them his role in that film presented the Sikh’s in bad lights.

King Though some radical organizations have criticized the ‘Singh Is King’ but it is being said that it will influence people towards Sikhism. Whether it is the character or the script of the film, the film was a very big hit and it Bollywood has taken it as that Singh is always the real King. But only time will tell whether Singh is real king or the turban that makes him king.

Serial Bomb Blasts After conducting serial bomb blasts within a time of one and a half month in, Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmadabad and Surat, Indian Mujahideen struck again on Saturday and this time target was the national capital Delhi. Five low intensity bomb blasts went off within a time of 30 minutes at three of the busiest places of the national capital. Two bomb blasts went off in Connaught Place, two in Greater Kailash M Block market in south Delhi and the fifth and the most damaging in Karol Bagh ’s Ghaffar Market. The damage could have been much more if the police had not detected four more bombs that were placed at other busiest places and were later on defused by the bomb-defusal squad. 25 people have died and more than 100 have been injured in the blasts.

Terrorist Group Indian Mujahideen, which is considered to be one of the branch of SIMI , has taken the responsibility of conducting the bomb blasts. There are a lot of similarities between the previous serial bomb blasts of Ahmadabad and Bangalore and the Delhi Blasts. This group had sent emails prior to the blasts and it has happened again this time, though the male was sent to a media group after 10 minutes. Same kind of material was used that was used in the previous serial bomb blasts. Militants chose the busiest placed and the evening rush hours to maximize the damage.

Intelligence These serial bomb blasts have once again showed the failure of the Indian intelligence agencies. After the serial blasts in Ahmadabad and Bangalore, secret agencies as well as the police departments of all the Indian states were put on high alert. But they, again have failed. Some people have claimed to have seen the bomb planters. Police have prepared the sketches of the culprits on the basis of the eyewitnesses’ accounts. It is a very crucial breakthrough and it is being considered that the culprits will be caught soon.

Home Minister But these blasts have brought a lot of criticism to the UPA government and especially for the union home minister Shivraj Patil. Opposition and well as some state government are demanding strict laws against the terrorists but he has always remained the stumbling block in the process. Some of the TV channels have criticized him for ‘changing clothes strategy’. It was reported that he had changed his closes thrice to attend various functions when Delhi had fell victim to the serial bomb blasts.

Bank Robbery According to a sensational as well as funny news published in TOI two men robbed the State Bank of India branch(Noida) of Rs 10.8 lakh in cash on Friday by using a toy gun. It is not the first such incident. According to the Noida Police sources it was the same due who had earlier on Thursday had looted Rs 4.8 lakh from a Canara Bank branch in Sector 63 by using a toy gun. In the first incident they had left the toy pistol behind after looting the bank. They committed the crime by 4.30 pm. At that time bank had been closed for the public and official work and counting of cash was going on.

Incident Police suspects that in both of the incidents same people were involved. They have formed this theory on the basis of eyewitness’ accounts of the robbers. They snatched the bank guard’s gun at the ‘gun point’ and then forced the bank employees to put all the cash in two polyethylene bags after which they fled. In the first incidents they had used helmets as masks to prevent their identity from revelation. But in the second incident they had not done it. According to the bank employees,they have looted an amount of  Rs 10.8 in cash in their second robbery. Police have claimed that the targets were carefully chosen as both are the newly opened bank branches and does not have a working alarm system. Involvement of any bank employee also can not be denied.

Security Bank robberies are very common in India and in most of the cases it has been found that bank employees help directly or indirectly to commit the crime. If this crime has been committed by some new and inexperienced ‘criminals’ then they will be caught very soon. But some times terrorist organization also commit bank robberies to fund their cadres to carry out destructive activities. If it has been committed by some terrorist organization then it is a matter of serious concern. In recent times several bank robberies have happened and in most of the cases security guards were overpowered by the robbers. All is indicates that security guards are ill equipped and lack required ability. And at the other end bank staff, too does not have any kind of weapon that can be used to counter such situation.

Punjabi Boxers Three Punjabi boxers succeeded to reach in finals of their respected categories in the  55th National boxing championship held at the Giani Zail Singh Stadium in Bathinda (Punjab). All the three boxers were Amandeep Singh (48kg), Amandeep Singh (75kg) and Kuldeep Singh (75Kg).

First Boxer Amandeep Singh (48kg) was the first Punjabi boxer to reach the final of the light flyweight category in the championship. He defeated defending champion Sanjay Kolte with the huge margin of 20-7 in the semifinal. He dominated throughout whole of the match and remained well ahead of his opponent even form the start of the bout.  His opponent could not stand against his assault of right-left combination. He kept his opponent at the bay and gained maximum points.

Kuldeep Singh The second Punjabi boxer to reach the final was his namesake, Amandeep Singh who defeated Sanjay Tokas in the semifinal of the lightweight category (60kg). He defeated his opponent with the margin of 16-6 points. But one of the most interesting and tough bought was fought between Punjab’s Kuldeep Singh and Railways’ G Thygarajan in the middleweight category. It was one of the toughest bout as both were evenly placed until the last 15 seconds of the last round. But in the dying moments Kuldeep regained his power and launched a vigorous assault on his opponent. He Scored four moments which also turned the match in his favor. Later on all the three Punjabi boxers won the finals of their respected categories. And it was once again the middleweight category in which fierce fight was fought. Despite a cut below his right eye, Kuldeep Singh won the bought by 6 the margin of 6 points. He defeated Haryana’s boxer Manjeet.

Awards In the awards distribution ceremony, Defending champions, the Railway Sports Promotion Board was once again adjudged the winner of the Overall Championship title of the 55th Senior Men National Boxing Championship. Railways’ pugilists have won four gold medals. Services were adjudged the runners-up as they had won three gold medals. Though Punjab also had won three gold medal but it got third position in the tourney.

Attraction of the day were Bollywood super-star Sanjay Dutt, Olympic bronze medalist Vijender, Olympians Akhil and Jitendra, who attended the ceremony.

Caught Recent developments indicate that stars are not in favor of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, who is also called King Khan or SRK in the entertainment industry. His cold war with other Bollywood superstars, Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan is well known to every one. This time he is in trouble again and the reason is again smoking at public place. According to the Indian news papers he was spotted smoking on the premises of the Khalsa College, Amritsar where he had was doing shooting. Despite Indian government’s ban on smoking at public places, smoking is also strictly prohibited in the College premises. Indian government has passed this rule only in the 90s while smoking is banned in the college premises ever since it was established.

Announcement Last month Shahrukh Khan, during an interview had announced to quit the smoking for his children’s sake. He told that he had started smoking when he was 22. In the past he has been criticized by the National Organization for Tobacco Eradication and Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss for smoking at public places. In November 2007 Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss had sent him a legal notice for smoking at public place. He was spotted smoking during the Hindustan Times Leadership summit. It is not only SRK who had faces such charges many other film stars had to face the similar problems. Screening of smoking scenes is prohibited in the Indian films. Smoking at public places in India is not allowed in India and if someone is caught then he can be sentenced to six month’s rigorous imprisonment and some fine also.

Punjab Government According to the rumors Punjab government has filed a complaint against him after the incident. It must be learnt that Amritsar is one of the main Sikh religious center. Smoking and consuming of liquor is prohibited in the main Sikhism related places. Though this rule, is not strictly followed. But on Thursday Punjab government had denied about any knowledge of the matter and any complaint about it to the Union Health Ministry. Some news papers has published, that on the basis of Punjab Government’s complaint, Union Health Ministry had issued a notice to the Bollywood star. There are millions of people in India who smoke at public places, but celebrities are always the target of the anti-smoking drive. Probably it is done to set examples and to encourage the people to quit smoking.

Charge Sheet Central Bureau of Investigation could not file charge sheet against the accused in the Noida double murder case.  September 9 was the last day to file the charge sheet but CBI has failed to do so because of lack of concrete evidence. CBI has said that it could not do it because it has not completed the investigation yet. Investigation agency has even failed to find the murder weapon and the mobile phones of the deceased that could have been concrete evidence.

Investigation Arushi Talwar, only daughter of Dr Rajesh Talwar, was found murdered in her bedroom on May 16 morning. Police had suspected Talwar’s domestic help Hemraj of the crime. But his dead body was found the next day on the terrace which had revealed the mishandling of the case by the Noida Police. Police did not handle the case well and with over interest of media it remained in highlights for more than two months. Because of excessive public pressure this case was handed over to CBI.  But CBI too could not do enough. CBI has succeeded to collect only the scientific evidence. Krishna, a compounder working with Rajesh Talwar, Rajkumar, helper of Talwar family’s neighbor and another domestic helper Vijay Mandal are the accused in this case. It must be learnt that Rajesh Talwar was also the chief suspect before the arrest of these three accused and had to go thought a lot of mental pressure and scientific tests conducted by the investigation agency.

Mystery This case  remained in the national news during the months of May and June and during this period it had raised many questions. Media’s and Police’s role was debated by every one who had the slight knowledge of this case. Even Child Rights Commission had raised questions about the way media and police had handled the case. It was one of the most sensational case of that time and every one wanted the mystery to be solved and the murderers to be punished. Police, instead of finding the evidence had damaged it. This case had also forced the  police to rethink about its approach as it was busy with its traditional methods of finding the evidence while murderers had used that time to destroy the time. CBI  has said it will file the case only when it completes the investigation. It was a mystery before the investigation and form present scenario it looks it will remain a mystery in future as CBI has failed to collect concrete evident.

Onam Indian has 28 states and seven union territories. Every state and union territory is unique in itself. Indian has been divided into states on the basis of geography, religion, tribes and languages. In short we can say India is a ‘unity in integrity’. Every state has its unique culture, style of living and festivals. Today we are going to discus about a festival called Onam that is considered to be one of the biggest festival of the state of Kerala. This festival is celebrated during the first Malyalam month of Chingam. This month corresponds to the months of August-September of the Gregorian Calender.

Mythology It is celebrated in the honor of Asur(Demon) King Mahabali and continues for ten days. The first day of the festival is called Atham that is decided on the basis of the position of stars. While the last and the most important day is called Onam. According to the Hindu mythology and belief of People of Kerala on this particular day in the month of Chingam Lord Vishnu had taken Avatar(birth) as Vaamana, in the Kingdom of King Mahabali and had sent him to Swarag (paradise). It is believed that on this particular day spirit of the King visits Kerala. To impress upon and welcome their revered ruler, Kerala people lay flower mats in front of their homes, arrange community meals, dance, play and make merry. Even competitions for the laying of flower mats are held. Usually young girls are given the responsibility of this work. People of Kerala give a lot of importance to the lunch on the Onam day. People install image of Lord Vishnu in form of Vaamana Avatar in their homes.

Celebration People wear new clothes on this day and a special feast is held in which special dishes are served on banana leaves. Special boat races are held. Boat race is called Vallakali that means snake boat race. Aranmula Boat Race and the Nehru Trophy Boat Race are the world famous boat races and thousands of tourists come to Kerala to visit these races. Usually 100 oarsmen row every snake boat. This festival also marks the harvest season. Though traditionally it is associated with the Hindus but all the people of Kerala from all the religions celebrate it. With the passage of time it has become the identity of Kerala.
