Reasons In recent years Maoists’ power has increased manifolds. In early stages they were limited to two or three states but now they have established their bases in more than half of the Indian states.  But some ‘poor’ states are the worst affected. Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Jharkhand and Bihar are the worst affected areas as Maoists can easily won the support of poor masses. They establish their own courts and provide justice to the poor and deprived people at no coast and punish the rouges in the ‘internal areas’ where government has a very limited reach. On the other hand Government has totally failed to provide relief to the people because of corruption and other political reasons. Maoists use this situation to exploit the public emotions and easily get support and ‘manpower’ for themselves.

Political Reasons Central and state governments are also responsible for the prevalent situation as for many years they have neglected the emerging internal threat and at the same time have done nothing to improve the economic status of the the poor masses. Political leaders of these states are also responsible for the situation as they have done nothing for the welfare of the poor and deprived people and have indulged in ‘corrupt’ politics. In and international ‘hunger report’ India is placed at the 66 no of total 88 nations. It is even behind Pakistan and Bangladesh. When people are forced to kill rats for their food then if some individual or organization provides some relief to the poor then they are easily won by him/it. Though Maoists are emerging as the biggest threat for the integrity of nation they are ‘messiahs’ of poor. In real terms Maoists are not the threat, threat is the poverty and hunger. If government succeeds to won over these menaces then Maoists can be easily won.
