Riots First it was Gujarat that shook the nation but the year 2008 has turned out to be the worst as for as the communal  harmony is concerned. First it was the state of Jammu and Kashmir where Amarnath land row triggered wide spread protest in both regions of the state and had widened the rift between Hindus and the Muslims. It was followed by anti-Christian riots in the state of Orissa. More than thirty persons have been killed and thousands have been rendered homeless in the state. They are living in the relief camps for weeks and are reluctant to go to there homes because of fear of violence. It had not ended here. More than 50 Bodos were killed in the Assam state and thousands are living in relief camps. It has been followed by MNS’ anti-north actions in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Politics For all these happenings almost all the political parties are responsible. In Kashmir it was PDP that fanned the Amarnath land row and turned it into a fire though It could not take the advantage of the situation. In Orissa if saffron parties are responsible for the killings of Christians Chief Minister Navin Patnaik is also responsible as he did not took adequate steps in the initial stages and let the communal fire engulf the surrounding areas also. For the Assam happenings, all the state political parties as well as the national parties are responsible as they always have supported the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and have neglected the local tribal people.

Who Is More Dangerous? All these incidents indicate that for most leaders politics is an occupation. To keep their ‘business’ going they can go to any extent. For them nationalism, communal harmony is just a slogan. They change their characters according to the mood of the public. Such kind of political parties are emerging as the biggest threat to the unity of the country. People die because of militancy, but underground actions of divisive political parties have killed many and rendered thousands homeless. We can say that such kind of political parities are more dangerous than the militants.
