Death Famous Pop star Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest in a hospital in Los Anglos on Friday, June 27. He was 50 years old and has been survived by three children one from an unknown woman while two from his second wife Deborah Jeanne Rowe. He married twice but his married life could not survive long because of media created controversies. His music career was badly affected by controversies related to his married life, business life and some fake controversies. He has died a few weeks ahead of his ‘This Is It’ tour that could have marked his return in the music world after a very long time. He had declared that he will perform in July and that will be his last performance but the star who ruled over
the millions of hearts was ‘defeated by his own heart’. It was being believed that he died of cardiac arrest but the exact cause of his death could not be found out or we can say that once again media is determined not to allow rest to him even after his death. Jackson was also called ‘Wacko-Jacko’ because of his different life style, sex scandals and plastic surgeries. The entire world has been left stunned because of his sudden death. As the news of his death flashed on various TV channels all his fans fixed their sights on TV screens. For all his fans he will always be the ‘King of Pop’. His fans were heard singing a song ‘Remember the Time’ from his hit album ‘Dangerous’ to pay as homage to the departed soul. He was liked by the people of all the ages. Early Life His full actual name was Michael Joseph Jackson. He was born on August 29, 1958 in Chicago. He was seventh of nine children to his parents Joseph Walter “Joe” Jackson and Katherine Esther Scruse.His father’s physical and emotional abuses, whippings and strict discipline had badly affected his psychology. During an interview Michael Jackson had told about his father’s exploitative behavior mated out to him. He had wept while telling about his father’s physical and emotional abuses during the interview.His musical talent had started to appear from his early life when he used to perform in front of his classmates. When he was just six years of old he had started to play congas and tambourine for the Jackson Brothers’ band. They struggled a lot during the early days of their music career. They used to sing for black clubs. During first five years of their career the Jackson gave many hits but they could not get according to their talent. Disputes between the Motown Records and Jackson 5 had also played an important role in the decline of their popularity.
Jackson remained an important part of the band from 1976 to 1984 and released six more albums. He was the main song writer, singer and stage performer in the band. After that he never looked back and ruled the headlines of European media from next ten years. Hits after hits established him firmly in the music industry and he became a shining star. His second album ‘Thriller’ was released in early nineties proved out to be a big success as it remained at the top for 80 consecutive weeks. It gave a huge uplift to his career. After Thriller and Controversies We can say that ‘Thriller’ marks the top of Michael Jackson’s music career. Though after that he gave many other hits and was awarded with various awards but accidents, financial disputes, luxurious life style and media created controversies had started to affect his career. During this period of his life he was given the name of Jacko-Wacko. The first part of this name depicted his success while he got the second name because of controversies and rumors related to his personality. In 1993 a 13 year old child Jordan Chandler blamed him for sexually abusing him. But both the parties settled the matter outside the court as Michael Jackson agreed to give two crore rupees to Chandler. But this case had adversely affectedJackson’s public image. It also broke his friendship with Evan Chandler. Rumors had also spread that he was a pedophile. His sister had also admitted that he was a pedophile but later on she had retracted from her earlier statement. He also had to go through strip search because of this case. Till then it had become clear that he has fallen a victim to the biased media coverage. To increase its circulation various media groups created rumors related to his life. In 1986 a paper had spread the rumor that he sleeps in oxygen chambers to hide his aging effects. Someone had spread the rumor that he sleeps with the chimpanzee while another paper had spread the news that he wants to buy the bones of Elephant Man Joseph Merrick. These accusations had disturbed Jackson mentally a lot and he had started to take painkillers and many other drugs to treat the mental stress. By the end of 1992 he had become totally addicted to drugs and was treated at a drug rehabilitation center.
Marriage with Lisa Marie Presley During this worst phase of life, Lisa Marie Preslay always stood by Jackson’s side. She gave a lot of emotional support to Jackson when he was finding himself alone in the crowd of adversaries. He was because of her support that Jackson emerged victorious could get out of this sticky situation. It is because of her persuasion that he first settled the matter with theChandlers Outside the court and then he went into the rehabilitation to recover from the drug addiction. But their married life could survive less than two years and they left each other remaining friendly for rest of their lives. Some people had alleged that their marriage was a ploy to improve Michael Jackson’s public image in wake of sex abuse allegations. After that he started to control his business and acquired the half ownership of Sony/ATV Music Publishing. He lost and made many friends because of business related matters.
History World Tour and Second Marriage His History World Tour restored his lost public image and also increased his popularity many folds. From September 7, 1996 to October 15, 1997 he visited 35 countries of the five continents. This tour broke all the records as his 82 concerts in 58 cities were watched by more than four million fans. On 30 October, 1996 he had performed in Mumbai. He was so popular in India that many girls had fallen unconscious to see him singing and performing live on the stage. The crowd was so huge that people could not get water to drink. During this tour, when he was in Australia he married Deborah Jeanne Rowe who was a dermatologist nurse by profession. She gave birth to two children the first was a boy who was named Michael Joseph Jackson Jr. and the second was a daughter named Michael Katherine Jackson. But their marriage could not last long and they got separated in 1999. Michael had acquired the full custody rights of both the children. They remained friendly even after that. After this he was again at logger heads with Sony because of business related disputes. Later on, he abandoned Sony and released ‘Invincible’ on his own. He was again blamed of sexual abuse by another child named Gavin Arvizo who was 14 years old at that time. But all these charges proved out to be wrong later on. After that he remained away from the crowd for the remaining part of his life and was seen rarely in the full public view. In 2009 he had planned to perform live but all his plans failed because of his sudden death.
Awards and Charity He holds thirteen Guinness World Records in his name. Except it, he had also been awarded with Grammy awards, American Music Awards and World Records many times. He was also associated with many charity programs and had collected millions of rupees for various charity related programs. He has performed in various stage programs that were organized to collect funds for various charitable programs. He had raised these funds for the refugees of Kosovo, Children of Guatemala, to help Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, Red Cross and UNESCO.
