Tuesday, 14th July, 2009
Indian Cricketers It must be learnt that he has targeted almost every Indian cricketer but has surprisingly spared Price of Kolkata, Sourabh Ganguly. Even Yuvraj Singh has not been spared. According to Buchanan he tries to become like Sourabh Ganguly but lacks the charismatic characteristics of Ganguly. He has written that Yuvi used to leave his kit in the ground after the practice session believing that somebody else will come and collect his kit to the dressing room. It had become a habit. Next victim of his criticism is spinner Harbhajan Singh. He writes that it was Harbhajan Singh he had created the controversy with Symonds. He creates controversies and when he himself is targeted losses control. He has also written about controversial
Ganguly Buchanan has surprisingly admired Ganguly. According to him he is the roll-model of the new generation. He is somewhat like Ian Chappel as he used to be in his days. Sourabh’s praise has surprised everyone because it was Buchanan who had played an important role in dethroning Ganguly from the captaincy of Kolkata Knight Riders during the IPL season 2009. Buchanan had tried to experiment with the multi-captain theory which was severely objected by Ganguly. It must be learnt that Buchanan coached KKR could not perform well in IPL 2009 and had faired badly in the ranking.
Buchanan It looks that Buckanan has used every king of advertising funda to popularize and increase the selling of his book by criticizing Indian cricketers because this game is the most popular game in the Indian sub-continent and is some times called a new religion of the region. But when he found that criticism of Indian cricketers have turned into a big controversy, he started the damage control process. He said that he never criticized any Indian cricketer. His comments are being presented in the wrong light by the media. It needs the thorough reading of the book to understand these comments to their true spirit.
