Mumbai 25th August, 2003 Bomb Blast Case: Three Found Guilty

Three held guilty for 2003 Mumbai twin blasts: Finally after long period of six years, the Mumbai special court of crime found guilty the three accused guilty. The accused Ashrat Ansari, Hanif Sayed and Fehnida Sayed were convicted twin blasts in Mumbai. They were charged as planting the bombs in two taxis which were exploded near the gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar. In that blast there were 52 innocents were killed and near about 184 were injured on August 25, 2003. This was the biggest blasts since 1993 blasts case.

The conspiracy to attack on Mumbai was planned in Dubai. The prevention of terrorism Act (POTA) under the supervision of Judge MR Puranik held them guilty. The trio was caught by the police on July 28, 2003 when they planned to plant the bomb in a muinicipal bus in which two people were killed. The three accused are the members of Lashkar-e-Toiba and their acceptance about the blasts explore the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).
Panel code against accused: The different panel code under which they found guilty are 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 120 (b) (conspiracy) besides section 3(4) (voluntary harbouring a terrorist), 3(3) (Conspiracy) 427 (mischief causing damage), 3 (terrorist acts), 4 (possession of arms), 4(b) (possession of explosives) etc. of POTA. MR Puranik will hear the arguments of the defense and the prosecutor on the entirely case on the August 4. The prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said that the accused must be punished rigidly. He said they must get death as penalty.
Confession of Three accused: The three accused accepted that the conspiracy was planned to save the Muslims. One of the accused confessed that they came to know that some Hindu leaders were planned against Muslim’s living in Gujarat in 2002. And thus we decided to take revenge. We were planned to set our main target to that position where lots of gujaratis are living.
Attack on August 25, 2003: The three acussed along with the two daughters of Hanif and his wife hired a taxi on August 25, 2003 from where they lived to gateway of India with lots of RDX with them in taxi and left the bag in taxi and said thwy would be back after the lunch. From there they hired another taxi and went to zaveeri bazaar and plotted bomb near jewellary shop. The daughter of Hanif was just 16 years old and she was also arrested to become a part of the crime. The other daughter was just of six months at that time. There was two other accused named Mohammed Ansari Ladoowala and Mohammed Hassan Batterywala who were got clean chit form the POTA as there was no case against them.
