Rattan Tata’s Green revolution-Nano: Nano means very small, it’s a car of very small size actually meant for the low income group people, specially designed and manufactured by Tata Group. It may have started as one man s dream and grew up to be a hope for a whole nation. Ratan Tata has once again planned to begin production of a hybrid version of the Nano with getting its exterior facelift. Tata confirmed this in an interview with a South Korean newspaper. There is no confirmation on the nature of the hybrid system; it is something different that the Nano will sport a full-blown electric motor and battery pack that will allow it to run for long durations. At the same time, the system is expected to be more advanced than a start or stop micro system. As the nano already is the world’s least expensive car similarly its Hybrid version would be the least expensive green car of the world. At the 63rd annual general meeting of the company in Mumbai, the chairman had hinted about the progressing work on the alternate fuel technology on eco-car in Thailand, electric vehicles and hybrids. The company also updated about the use of bio-diesel and ethanol across Tata Companies. Tata had also talked about a car project with a France company. The company has delivered 10518 units.
Looks and Designs of Nano: The Nano does not look cheap. It looks like a complete modern small car that could have come from Japan, South Korea or any European nation. Actually it is actually meant for India only where the need for a small car that does not cost the moon is really felt. If you have a closer look, you will find lots of details which may grab your attention. The single large wiper blade, the three nuts that hold each wheel, beautifully crafted air-intakes on the flanks, the excellent fit and finish of body panels, quality of paint, plastic-to-metal integration and so on. And you also notice how closely related the Nano is to modern Tatas like the Indica Vista. If you are looking for oddball-ness, then the small tyres stand out, along with the tall stance of the car. This car dwarfs Maruti 800s and Altos and is almost as tall as a Hyundai Santro. Our road test car in yellow was the LX version, with colour coded bumpers, and attracted lots of attention as we hit the road. The drooping roof line, the little spoiler and the Gallardo-inspired air intakes are responsible for this. It’s a rear-engined sporty looking car.
Nano’s Variants: Just like other Tata cars, Nano is also having its three variants/ categories. The very first category or the top most category is Nano Lx worth Rs.1,75,000/- – which has got the colours like- Sunshine Yellow, champagne gold and Lunar silver, available in Euro-III pollution norm. The middle category is Nano-Cx worth Rs.1,45,000/- which includes the colours like: Racing Red, Ivory white, Summer blue, Sunshine Yellow, champagne gold and Lunar Silver in Euro II & III pollution norms. Similarly the base model NANO costs Rs.1,17,000 only with out AC and Heater with only basic features and with colour like: Red, Ivory white and Summer blue in Euro-II and III pollution norms.
