New Year shows in Russia, Japan and India: New Year is celebrated every year across the world in different ways in the major cities with fireworks and other events. People enjoy the events with family and friends and also go out to celebrate the eve. In Russia the celebration starts one or two hours before midnight usually and they remember the passing year’s important events. They have tradition to listen bells of Kremlin clock either on the radio or on television and while listening the bells people keep the silence and make their wishes for the new year and after that they drink and take dinner. In Japan people welcome the New Year’s god, Toshigami on the day. People clean their homes to welcome the god and prepare Kadomatsu and Shimenawa. Bhuddist temples ring their bells 108 times in midnight as their traditions to welcome New Year. In India New Year is celebrated throughout the country where Bollywood stars and other celebrities do the stage shows and large crowd gather to see the shows. Major places in India are Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmadabad where these New Year events take mostly organized.

New Year celebration in Australia, New York and Brazil: In major cities of Australia like Sydney and Melbourne New Year is celebrated with fireworks and many events are organized. In Sydney celebrations are accompanied by fireworks which last for 15 to 20 minutes followed by music shows at Harbour Bridge and four other sites. About 2 million people gather around Port Jackson to celebrate the occasion. In New York the celebrations for the New Year is around a big crystal ball which descends in the ten seconds countdowns in Times Square followed by a big party where more than 3 million people give their attendance for the occasion. In Brazil the New Year called Ano Novo is country’s one the main holiday officially and people celebrate the occasion with big fames. The beach of Copacabana is known among the best firework location on this special eve.

New Year in United Kingdom, Italy and Ecuador: In Britain there are various events at different places to celebrate the New Year eve. Fireworks take place around the London Eye while the time is indicated by the chimes of Big Ben. In Edinburgh cannon is fired at Edinburgh Castle at midnight followed by fireworks and a large number of people gather there to celebrate the New Year and various entertaining events are organized. The celebrations from London are telecasted by BBC in Britain and Wales which people can enjoy sitting at their home even. In Scotland New Year is celebrated as Hogmanay while in other cities of UK like Liverpool, Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff, Manchester, Aberdeen, Newcastle upon Tyne and Birmingham starts the celebration in the evening. In Italy the day is celebrated at various cities with music, dance and art play. They refer the New Year as Capodanno or Notte di San Silvestro and they celebrate the occasion at midnight with friends and relatives with fireworks and other music events throught out the country. There is unique way to celebrate New Year in Ecuador as they make dummies which represents people of the old year major events which mostly include political characters and leaders. At midnight the dummies are lit on fire as a symbol or burning away the old year and welcome the New Year.

New Year in Canada, Denmark and Austria: In Canada New Year is celebrated by various ways in various regions. It is social holiday in Canada on this special eve and people enjoy the day with family and friends. There are fireworks in metropolitan cities like Toronto and Montreal with the music and a large number of people together to celebrate the events organized at various places. There are late night parties which continue till the early hours of New Year and people celebrate the occasion. People of Denmark usually like to celebrate the New Year with the family members and close friends. People watch the Queen’s New Year’s message on television. As clock at the Copenhagen City Hall at twelve people starts the fireworks and whole zone starts celebrating the events organized. Special meals are prepared at home which usually includes Marzipan ring cake on the New Year eve which people share with family and close relatives. In Austria various events are organized to welcome the New Year. All radio and television channels broadcast various programs which people can enjoy from their home.

New Year in France, Germany and Spain: French people celebrate the New Year with special dishes and special drinks like champagne. Some people in France share the gifts and exchange the resolutions. Most the people like to celebrate the holiday with family with having dinners with family and friends. The New Year holidays lasts till 6 January in the country and people according to their traditions enjoy the cake according to the place where they are living in France. There are also fire works and special events in Paris and a large number of people celebrate at Eiffel tower. In Germany a short English theatrical performance “Dinner for One” is broadcasted on various television channels. There are celebrations across the country and Berlin hosts big events for the celebrations where millions of people from Europe come to enjoy the special eve. There are fireworks at Brandenburg Gate at midnight. People spend a large amount of money in crackers for the day and take New Year toasts at midnight with a Glass of wine or champagne. There one more popular New Year custom in Germany which involves telling fortunes by the shapes made by molten lead dropped into cold water and the custom is called Bleigie Ben. Spanish people believe in celebrating the day with family and think that wearing red underwear on the day brings the good luck to the people. The countdown for the countries celebration is mainly from the clock of Casa de Correos building in Puerta del Sol square in Madrid. People eat twelve grapes one with the each chime of the clock at midnight. After eating grapes people wish each other and make the celebrations of the New Year. Young people go out in pubs and other such places to enjoy the parties of New Year. There is big rush in all hotels and bars and parties lasts till next morning.
