Australia claims ICC Under-19 World Cup:Australia beat Pakistan in final match of ICC Under-19 World Cup played at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln on January 30, 2010.Pakistan won the coin toss and elected to ball first inviting Australian team to bat first. Australian players scored 207 runs losing 9 wickets in 50 over match while in return Pakistani players failed to reach this target and lost all wickets in 46.4 over scoring a total of 182 runs. Australia won the match by 25 runs as their bowlers shown excellent performance limiting Pakistani players not to reach the targeted score. JR Hazlewood took four wickets for the team and he was rewarded with man of the match award for his performance. LA Doran clinched three wickets for the team showing his talent. No doubt Australian players have proved by winning the under-19 world cup that their team has bright future in cricket.
Australia Under-19s innings: As Australia was invited to bat first by Pakistani skipper so NJ Maddinson and TM Beaton opened for the team. Australian opener NJ Maddinson was found leg before the wicket in the very first over on the ball of Fayyaz Butt when he had not even opened his account of runs and their team was at 2 runs. Skipper MR Marsh came to bat in this critical condition while team had already lost one opening opener so early and in the very next over TM Beaton lost his wicket giving a contribution of 5 runs from his bat. He was caught by Babar Azam on the ball of Sarmad Bhatti. Team lost first two wickets so early at a total of just 10 runs. AR Keath joined skipper in middle but skipper soon lost his wicket. He scored 7 runs from his bat and caught by Mohammad Waqas on the ball of Fayyaz Butt. It was really poor performance for upper order of batsmen. AR Keath and JS Floros tried to control the circumstance for the team by scoring some runs for the team. But JS Floros was sent back to pavilion when he was at 35 runs. He lost his wicket while running between the wickets. TJ Armstrong was next batsman to come in after some contribution from Floros and mean while AR Keath lost his wicket scoring 25 runs for team. He was caught by Rameez Aziz on the ball of Raza Hasan and Australia lost their fifth wicket at a total of 82 runs. Wicket kipper TIF Triffitt and TJ Armstrong together took the command for the team to make a respectable total. They gave a partnership of 45 runs for the sixth wicket as Triffitt was caught by Mohammad Waqas on ball of Babar Azam when he was playing at 21 runs. KW Richardson came to bat next and shown magic from his bat hitting two sixes and three fours. He scored 44 runs off 44 balls before Ahmed Shehzad caught his catch on the ball of Sarmad Bhatti.it was 47th over when he lost his wicket and team had reached a total of 189 runs. Fast bowler JR Hazlewood came to bat next but TJ Armstrong who was on pitch from long time lost his wicket on a individual score of 37 runs from his bat. Sarmad Bhatti showed him way to pavilion. Soon Hazlewood also lost his wicket in 49th over while running between the wickets. LA Doran and AC McDermott were unbeaten at 9 and 3 runs respectively at end of 50 over inning. Australia scored a total of 207 runs because of good batting from middle order after early dismissal of upper order player. Sarmad Bhatti clinched 3 wickets and Fayyaz Butt got two wickets while Raza Hasan and Babar Azam got one wicket each.
Pakistan Under-19s innings: Chasing the target of 208 runs to win Babar Azam and Ahsan Ali opened the inning for Pakistan. They lost their opening batsman Ahsan Ali very early in 5th over when he was at just 2 runs from his bat and team had a total of 15 runs. He was caught by Beaton on the ball of Hazlewood. Ahmed Shehzad came to bat at number three when team had already lost opening wicket so early. He tried to control the conditions with Babar Azam and scored 36 runs from his bat. He was found leg before wicket on ball of Doran when their team was at a total of 69 runs. Pakistani skipper Azeem Ghumman was next man to come in middle to play his part of game and he tried to play a captain’s inning. But Babar Azam lost his wicket when he was 28 runs and Pakistani team lost their third man as him. He was caught by Triffitt on the ball of Doran. Rameez Aziz started contributing for the team with skipper to chase the target but when team was at a total of 110, they lost Rameez Aziz on the ball of Doran. He scored 23 runs with 3 fours and 1 six from his bat. Hammad Azam joined skipper in middle but he lost his wicket without opening his account of runs. He was caught by Triffitt on the ball of Hazlewood. Pakistani wicket keeper Mohammad Waqas was next man to bat for the team and scored 13 runs before he was caught by Hazlewood on ball of Keath. Sarmad Bhatti came to bat when team had already lost 6 wickets on a total of 130 runs. Skipper Azeem Ghumman also lost his wicket on ball of Floros after scoring 41 runs off 90 balls. After him Usman Qadir came to bat but Sarmad Bhatti lost his wicket when he was at an individual score of 10 runs. Soon after him Usman Qadir also lost his wicket in next over scoring 9 runs from his bat. He was caught by Triffitt on the ball of McDermott. And last man Raza Hasan was caught by Triffitt on the ball of Hazlewood scoring 10 runs with 2 fours in his inning. Fayyaz Butt was unbeaten at 4 runs. Pakistan team lost all their wickets at a total of 182 runs which gave Australian team a win by 25 runs. JR Hazlewood took four wickets for their team while JS Floros got three wickets.
