Republic Day Another 26 January and India Celebrated another Republic Day amid International media limelight. School children waves small tri-colors, Indian soldiers march passed, India’s military might was shown on the Rajpath to create some ‘faith’ in the hearts of ‘spirit-loosing’ Indian common masses. Everything happened like a ‘well-programmed computer program’ and ‘thank-god’ nothing ‘unwanted incident’ happened, ‘a relief to the home minister of India’.
Masses Above lines are to the ‘true spirit’ of this article or we can say they depict what a common Indian thinks about his country. There used to be times when Indian people waited to celebrate their Independence and Republic Days. But within a few years they have lost their faith in these festivals and now these ‘days’ have become just government functions. These festivals have, now, totally failed to become ‘the festivals of common masses’. Military march pasts, tableaus from various states show India’s ‘unity in integrity’, exhibition of military might and progressive India attract the world media. But these festivals lack the attachment of the common masses. Why? The reason is very simple. India has failed to become a country that was wanted by its freedom fighters. Nehru and Indira Gandhi remained loyal to the wishes of the freedom fighters to some extent but the later leaders of India deviated, totally, from the path and started to follow the footsteps of their colonizers. Bhagat Singh had rightly said that British will go but India will be ruled by ‘desi British’ and his words have proved right to the spirit.
Government At one extent food grains are rotting in godowns and on the other hand people are dying because of hunger and malnutrition. Supreme Court’s repeated orders were not respected by the government though people are dying every day because of hunger. Government prefers to sell the rotten food grains for the animal use instead of distributing it to the dying people free of cost. Thousands of ‘aadivasi’ villages were burnt in the forests of Jharkhand, Bengal, Orrisa and the adjoining states to provide benefits to some mining industries. When those homeless people took to arms they were called the ‘biggest threat’ to the unity of the country by the then home minister of India. It must be learnt that the same minister was formerly linked with the same firm which had committed every kind of atrocities against the ‘aadivasis’ in a certain area. The ‘Maoist Menace’ is the public uprising against the atrocities committed by the government backed ‘corporate world’. Now, they are being considered the first priority of the Indian government to ‘tackle with’.
Bewilderment Whether it is the public, ministers or the Prime Minister of India, everyone is in bewilderment. Sometimes situation becomes very funny when a minister issues a public statement and he is opposed by the other minister. Lack of communication and coordination between various ministries has only created ‘doubts’ in the public mindset. Ever increasing price rates, unemployment, corruption, government apathy and the callousness towards the suffering of public has created the feeling of detachment among the masses. But no one is caring for the public unrest. Those people who have been elected by the people are mostly corrupt and the government is run by most of the ‘unelected’ leaders. It is a shame that India is being lead by a man who has not been elected by the public vote. It must be learnt that Manmohan Singh ‘the present prime minister of India’ is a Rajya Sabha member. Mr. Sharad Pawar used his ‘power’ without any fear or hesitation to increase the rates of sugar by his ‘well timed iterations’. It must be learnt that before the change of portfolios he was agriculture minister of India who has the ‘daring responsibility’ to control food prices but he used his power to his ‘utmost’ to increase the prices of sugar and some other necessary food items. The reason is very simple. Sarad Pawar represents the ‘corporate lobby’ that is known as ‘sugar syndicate’. Even the other ministers have been found ‘involved to their neck’ in various frauds. The whole government is being said to be ‘in hand and glove’ with the corporate world which has seduced India with frauds after frauds. Investigations in some frauds have led some threads to PM house and the Janpath Rode. Public has started to feel that ‘Mr. Clean’ is not clean now. Adarsh Scam has exposed the nexus between the ‘high ranked military officials’, corporate lobbies, ministers and the bureaucracy. Corruption charges on some former Supreme Court judges have shaken the Indians and have created unrest among the masses. This unrest has reached to immense levels. Indian intellectual community has no doubt that this ‘bubble can blow’ Egypt type situation can arise anytime.
