India vs. South Africa:
People were waiting for this test match as this may create new records and change the history of cricket. This test match may break many records and above all positioned India at top. Obviously if they won the match and lot more breaking records can be made. But unfortunately the beginning was not going as well as was expected for Indian team and in the first inning of the team scored 233 with the loss of its 10 wickets. On the other hand South Africa scored 558 runs in the first series at the loss of 6 wickets. The match is played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, India. On the first day 6th February, 2010 of the match South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first. First inning was not good for Indian cricket team. But still they are positive about their victory. They believed that in the second inning they will definitely perform well and cover the difference. But the same thing happened again with them.  On day 3, the beginning of second innings also started not so good. The opening batsman Gautam Gambhir and Virendra Sehwag went to pavilion at the score of 1 and 16 respectively. At the end of the day, India was on 66 with loss of two wickets in 23 overs.

First Inning:
Performance of Indian team in first inning was not expected. Except Virendra Sehwag and S Badri no one stay on the ground for long time and fall out one by one. Gautam Gambhir as an opening batsman did not do anything for his tea and went to pavilion at the score of 12, after that Murali Vijay came and went out just at the score of 4. Sachin Tendulkar the master blaster could not help his team and caught by Dale Steyn. At that time Sachin made only seven scores. After that S Badri came and it seemed match was in control but he also caught at the score of 56 by Dale steyn. After that one by one all fell out and the entire team was in pavilion at the score of 233. Even the bowlers could not do much. No doubt in the beginning, Zaheer took two wickets earlier but they unable to knock out Hashim Amla and that was like strong pillar for the South Africa team. He was remained in the match at the end with 253 score. Bowlers tried hard but they failed to stop them to make scores and the result was at the end of the inning, South Africa was on 558 with by loosing six wickets. Now it’s a great target for Indian team to cover this huge difference and not only this, but also made such a huge score to beat South Africa.
Highlights of the third day: Following are the highlights of the third day match between India and South Africa:Dale Steyn performance in the innings made him the third bowler for South Africa that bag seven wickets in an innings against India. It was Steyn’s 13th five-wicket haul in Tests is his second against India.India lost their last six wickets for 12 runs from 221 for four to 233 — their worst collapse against South Africa.Sehwag has scored 18 centuries in Test cricket — 10 at home and eight away from home.Subramaniam Badrinath and Sehwag were associated in a stand of 136 — India’s best for the fourth wicket against South Africa in India, surpassing the 96 between Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly at Kanpur in November 2004.The Nagpur Test has produced the first instance of follow-on in an India-South Africa Test.Under Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s captaincy, Sehwag has scored three hundreds in 12 Tests — 1178 (ave.58.90) in 21 innings, including six fifties.Sehwag became the second Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar (109 off 188 balls against Australia in 2008-09) to score a hundred at VCA Stadium, JamthaBadrinath (56 off 139 balls) has become the 21st Indian player to register a half-century in debut innings in Tests.Badrinath is the third Indian to make 50 or more in an innings in his debut innings against South Africa, joining Pravin Amre — 103 at Durban in 1992-93 and Sehwag — 105 at Bloemfontein in 2001-02.Sehwag’s 109 is his fourth century against South Africa, emulating Mohammad Azharuddin’s tally of four hundreds — the most hundreds in India-South Africa Tests.Subramaniam Badrinath and Sehwag were associated in a stand of 136 — India’s best for the fourth wicket against South Africa in India, surpassing the 96 between Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly at Kanpur in November 2004.

Shahid Afridi Bizarre Ball Claims

Tuesday, 2nd February, 2010

Shahid Afridi bizarre ball claims: The time for Pakistan cricket team is not so well. Earlier, they were not get chance to play in IPL season 3 and now the all rounder of the team Shahid Afidi was charged for ball tampering. He was charged for this during fifth one day game against Australia. Although he refused to accept this and said he was just smell the ball. On the other hand, the coach Intikhab Alam said that he was so surprised with the behavior of Shahid Afridi. He said I myself did not understand why he behaved like this. It seems like he is eating an apple. This surprised me and as well as others. All get shocked by watching that scene. But Shahid Afridi said that he was just tried to smell it. There was some thing that I tried to move. Shahid Afridi was banned for two Twenty-Twenty Internationals which is not good for his team.

images46.jpg

Shahid Afridi pleaded guilty: Shahid Afridi felt bad and pleaded guilty when he was charged. Match referee Ranjan Madugalle charged him with article 2.2.9 offence of ICC Code of Conduct for breaking the law 42.3 of the Laws of Cricket. He realized his mistake and said he did not know what happened to him and why he did such a mad thing. That was definitely not right and I apologized for my misconduct and foolish mistake. He said what happened with me was very unfortunate and should not have happened. He also said that in future he will take care of this thing and will never repeat such a silly mistake. But according to Pakistan Coach Intikhab Alam the mistake did by Shahid Afridi is not acceptable and he should get punishment for this. According to coach, it is not good for the team that the captain of the team was ban for the matches, but the mistake he has done is not acceptable and it is important that he learnt some lesson. He added I feel sorry for him, but being a captain he should be above everything. He said it looks like that he is eating an apple and I am not getting him that what he want to achieve at that time.

Team get disappointed: With his this behavior, not only he but also his team disappointed. They all get shocked and for a moment could not understand what was happening? Why Shahid Afridi did this and what were his intentions? Was he trying to remove something from the ball or what else? But whatever he had done was not good and it effects the reputation of the team and that will leave an impact in future. The situation of the team is not so good after his punishment. Yousuf Khan, who was captain of the Pakistan team in Tests and One Day Internationals, is not participating of the Twenty-twenty squad and Younis Khan, who was captain before the tour of New Zealand has retired from this twenty-twenty format. Last year captain, Shoaib Malik might be one who is taking the charge of this squad in such situation. Kamran Akmal, the wicketkeeper and vice-captain has been in poor situation. He was dropped for the third Test in Hobart. Above all the misconduct of the Shahid Afridi sealed the game against Australia.

images-2.jpg

Khalid Latif injured: Also the opener of the team Khalid Latif was banged by one of his fans. He just broke the security line and run to meet his favorite star in the field. Although Khalid Latif is not seriously injured, but still some action has been taken against that fan. Observer and management of Pakistan will also look to the whole situation and will take some action against it. On this reaction of a fan, Australian seamer McKay said this was the disgraceful action ever had seen and I think no one wants to see this in future. It is not acceptable that someone just entered the field and touches his favorite player. A person has to think that it may hurt that player. I just hope that Khalid Latif is all well. He also mentioned that this is probably the worst things that happen on a cricket field.

It was for sure that in this test match if got chance then S Badrinath will be the man because of his performance. He was from six specialist batsmen named for the first test match against South Africa. Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh get injured during their tour to Bangladesh. Along with S Badrinath, Karnataka fast bowler Abhimanyu Mithun is also featured in the squad as replacement for the injured Sreesanth.

images-1.jpg

Although there are many doubts on him, but still he is finalized as one of the team member against South Africa Test match. He said he is obliged that he got this chance and will not let down to all who believe him.

images-2.jpg

Wriddhiman Saha’s selection: Along with S. Badri and Murli Vijay, Wriddhiman Saha is also in the first test match squad. He had played for India Under-19 and India A teams earlier. This is his debut game in senior team. He said it is a fantastic feeling for me and I never expected that I got the chance to play in senior team. When I came to know, it’s like dream come true for me. He also said that if he gets the opportunity to play, he will try to make full use of the chance. He also said he will try to stay in the team for long with his performance.

images-3.jpg

Selection for first test only: However the members have cleared this thing that because of long list of injured people in the Indian squad, these selectors have been picked for the first Test, which begins in Nagpur on February 6. They also mentioned that for the second test, they will reassess the players and according to their performance and fitness of injured players, the team may or may not be replaced. According to BCCI, Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh are out. Rahul Dravid is injured seriously during his play in Mirpur by Shahadat Hossain. Rahul Dravid was fractured his cheekbone after getting hit by a bouncer in Mirpur. He was advised for at least three weeks rest. Playing this series for Yuvraj Singh is also doubtful. But still the selectors will revise the status of injured players after first test. According the chief selector S Srikkanth, Dravid was very keen to play but the doctors have advised him rest as a precautionary measure. He also cleared that the team selected by them is the best possible team and this selection is made by considering the number of injuries in Indian squad. Yuvraj Singh is not in good form in the test while he performs well in T20 and one day matches. S Sreesanth is also returning back to home because of hamstring injury so Indian team will also have to look at another bowler options. Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium has flat and slow wicket so Indian team may consider two fast and two spin bowler for the match. Harbhajan Singh and Amit Mishra both will be playing most probably as Amit Mishra shown good bolwing in the first test match. Indian pacers Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan are also in good form as they shown their performance by taking five wickets in first match. India Vs. Bangladesh

Tuesday, 19th January, 2010

113198icon.jpg

India Vs. Bangladesh: It is always said that look before you leap. Sometime your words may hurt other persons or community. Like this happened with one of the best players of Indian cricket team Virendra Sehwag. In an interview with media, he made a bold statement about Bangladesh team. He sated that Bangladesh is an ordinary team. Not only this, he also included that they are not much capable to take 20 wickets of Indian team. But unfortunately in the first day of the match, the Indian team lost its 8 wickets. It was just because of its over-confidence or can say it ha not taken the Bangladesh team seriously. But opposite to its image, Bangladesh played very well especially bowlers and took eight wickets. It is predictable that if they played like this in the series then it may be a great problem for the team India.

113148icon.jpg

1st day of the match: The match was started with the toss which was won by Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan. He elected to field first and gave India a chance of batting. And as expected, the openers Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir of Indian team gave a good start to the team and scored 79 runs for opening wickets. Once Sehwag was caught by Bangladeshi bowlers, after that the batting line of Indian team fall like a pack of card. From 79 with no loss, team suddenly became 150 for six. It was only Sachin Tendulkar at that time that handles the whole situation and put some crucial partnerships with Amit Mishra and Zaheer Khan. With only his efforts India is able to cross 200, otherwise as the wickets were falling, it was little bit difficult for Indian team to make even 200 scores. Bangladesh bowlers did well. Shakib Al Hasan and S.Hossain picked up four-four wickets. It was very much clear that the Indian team is playing overconfidently and it was showed many times in the entire game of first day. The only good thing that happened in all this was Sachin Tendulkar crossed the 13,000 runs mark in the longer format of the game. He became the only batsman to achieve the milestone. On first day of the match, due to bad light the game was stopped. India was at 213/8 with Sachin Tendulkar batting on 76 and Ishant Sharma on 1 run.

2nd day of the match: The match was started with delay due to bad light and when India started playing, it was on 213 with loss of eight wickets. After that Sachin Tendulkar effort the whole team was covered-up by the Bangladesh bowlers at the score of 243. Bangladesh came out to bat for 4 overs before the lunch break and the match was continued till 21 overs. The last three overs were not good for them. Every over yielded a wicket and at the end of the match Bangladesh were lost three wickets. The match was not continued due to bad weather and spot light.

113192icon.jpg

3rd day of the match: Today on Tuesday 19, 2009, third day of the match is going on. Bangladesh started their first inning. Although they did not play well and the entire team was knocked out at the score of 242, but their efforts are appreciating. Till the tea break, the entire Bangladesh team was out and Indian team is ready for play.

images221.jpg

Dhoni unhappy with batsmen: The Indian Cricket team’s captain is not at all happy with his batsmen after losing the final match of tri nation series in Mirapur, Bangladesh. Dhoni is not at all satisfied with the way of Indian Batsmen chosen the shots in the match and finally which lead to the failure of the Team. But Dhoni thanked Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja for scoring good runs , 106 and 38 respectively. Varinder Sehwag also tried hard and scored 42 runs. But expectations from Suresh Raina was still more to Dhoni, as he said that Raina is still young and could stay more at the match to add more runs to the total scores to beat Srilankan team. Dhoni himself couldn’t do well even with his bat in the match. As per him his batsmen were very careless and not prepared properly whereas, they played on the pitches in the tournament and  which was not very difficult to score good runs. In the final match the pitch was bouncy for which the played would have been more careful and prepared but they had played very wrong shots and done careless mistakes, which could be avoided and won the match. On the other side, Srilankan Team played very well with the ball as well as with the bat and proved themselves the winners of the tri-nation match. Sri Lankan Bowler Kulasekara performed very well and took four wickets and earned the award of man of the match and their another player/ skipper Sangakkara got the Man of the Series Award for his outstanding performance in the field. Whereas, Indian Team could perform well in the very important match, as per Dhoni the captain of the team says. So its very important for both bowlers and batsmen to play well to reach the target of success or match winning. According to Captain Dhoni if Ashish Nehra would have not injured then must have a chance to win the match. Ashish Nehra had taken one wicket in the very first over when Sri Lankan team had not opened their account even. Upul Tharanga sent back by Ashish Nehra on the third ball of the inning only. As per Dhoni Indian team was on 245 runs when Nehra got injured otherwise we could defend ourselves. He said if we would have not lost Ashish Nehra then we would have put more pressure on Srilankan Team and could reach the success. Sreesanth had given some runs in the beginning. As per Dhoni, Indian team was totally dependent on Batsmen but his batsmen couldn’t perform as per his expectations whereas, Indian bowlers have come back in their original form.
